Americans say Flashlight, English say Torch.

which do you guys think is correct? personally, i think that Flashlight is an abomination.

anyway, any of you guys have high-performance tactical torches, because i'm looking for a nice small one and was wondering if any of you guys had any reccomendations

tbh both terms have there flaws, afterall for many a year a "torch" was a burning stick!

edit: I need to type faster :p

Well my dad has just bought a Maglight, and although i can't compare it to much, it felt pretty decent, the light it emits is pretty amazing too :)

I call it a handlight. A torch is a stick that is on fire. Handlight>Flashlight>Torch.
FACT.
but if i started calling torches handlights, no-one would have the foggiest idea what i'm talking about.

They would surely, it's a light that you hold in your hand, a handlight. It doesn't get any more basic.

Cash machine? ATM? No. Moneyhole.
Supermarket? Hypermarket? No. Big shop.

maglites are... insufficient.

i have a small LED torch thats about 5 times brighter than a mini maglite.

i'm talking about torches that use lithium batteries and last a couple of hours.

its the ENGLISH language!

therefor in England most people say torch imo hence torch is correct.

a torch USED to be a burning stick
