Hi,
In next month i changing place and unfortunately there will be a phone line bb option only for me. (Plymouth,South West) I can choose between those (i checked the postcode only because do not have phone number yet, must get it from BT)
1.BT
2. VM (non cable area)
3. TalkTalk
4. Orange (i think)

Best option for me will be unlimited downloads and the 12 month contract(or even less).
I read that BT is not so good,VM high pings various speed problems what about TalkTalk or Orange?
I don't know how far i will be from exchange But from the postcode i have it is saying You can get up to 8Mb.

Cheers

5) none of the above

somehow you've managed to shortlist quite possibly the worst 4 isps around. avoid them all for the sake of your sanity and your wallet. :)

no one can offer unlimited broadband on a normal bt line (well not unless you want to fork out at least 70-80 quid a month) so you need to be realistic about how much usage you need and pick a decent isp which fits your needs/budget.

As marc2003 hinted at, Samknows saying you can get "BT" means you can get BT Wholesale ADSL - which dozens of ISPs (some decent, some less so, some abysmal) use to provide a service.

Nice name Tolien. :p

How much are you willing to spend a month? For £20 you can get a Entanet connection which is vastly superior to those you have mentioned. This includes a 30/300 cap though

I pay 22/mo for plusnet which I think are owned by BT now - I get "Up to 8mb" ADSL (I get around 6.5Mbps - downloading from Usenet now at around 820KB/s) The deal's pretty good, totally unlimited between midnight and 4pm - but 15GB 4-12pm before capping starts, but even then, they only cap during the peak time.

@Trifid: Are Entanet still going? they were our first ISP back in 97 when you had to pay per minute for 56K :( I always thought they were a tiny company that would've died by now.

I'll answer that - yeah, Enta are still alive and well, though more on the business/reseller networking now. UKFSN used to get recommended often around here as an Enta reseller and they still seem to be good.

PS - I'm also with PlusNet but on the Business side. Since I read them the riot act last December they've behaved and left me alone despite hitting 100GB one month out of every three (before I get shouted at - all legal, mostly off-peak, <1% P2P, no Usenet). With 46 days of 100% uptime they're clearly doing something wrong and not behaving like the PN most have come to loathe (though they're still trying hard with email services). :p

OK so i picked up those 4 ,my bad ;] Through this BT wholesale and dozen ones which to pick ? I can spend max 30quid (monthly rental 4 the line inc) Enta - i don't think it is possible here in Plymouth (Samknows need phone number to check possibility but don't have it yet)
When it comes to unlimited hmmm there a months that I download 60-70GB and some with 10-20 so presumably 40GB one will be enough.

I read a little about them and i must say maybe this one . Despite 10GB cap but overnight usage doesn't count. And the pro package seems nice -19,99 for the Pro. I must check if monthly line rental is incl. in the price

Don't people usually reccommend ADSL24 as the best enta ?
in isp review they recommend Fast :)most of the time.
Anyway , everywhere i must add a line rental price yes? (when is not pointed that is included)

I get an answer from Fast :(
"(...)
PL2 1AN will only receive a reliable 512Kbps connection, so not very fast I'm afraid"
F%^$# that is crap... so i must choose some ADSL max which should be up to 8mb(that was various websites saying)

so on samknows i must lkook under LLU operators? beacuse when i click on Entanet i tried to get Dev or Plymouth nothing comes up :(

No - Samknows is only useful for finding what LLU providers are available. Beyond that if BT Wholesale is available every BTw provider is available.

What does www.btwholesale.com/getbroadband say for your number?
There should be two values, one for fixed rate and another for Max.

They are doing better than ever. They as a company concentrate on business solutions but have a ADSL network which the wholesale to smaller resellers such as Aquiss, ADSL24 and UKFSN.

Oh and another one,
If the guys from Fast saying u can get 512 kb only that mean that all enta resellers will do that speed or possible that other will go faster ?
And to go deeper from IPS reiew from top 10 almost everyone is enta? how could i check that ?
