Hey, my mate is after an isp when he moves to his new house (he lives down south, in Devon)
the ones he says are available are the following

bt, virgin, eclipse, aol, orange, talktalk, pipex, tiscali

he lives 489 meteres away from the exchange according to sam knows

can any of you give your oppinion on what would be the best choice?

cheers

It depends on what he wants to use it for and how much he wants to pay. I know pipex and eclipse uses traffic shaping to reduce speeds of p2p and usenet connections, not sure of others. Don't be fooled by the unlimited deals - pipex says unlimited and doen't even have a FUP (fair use policy) but do throttle people's connection if they go over 50GB per month.

Of those listed eclipse is probably rated the best for support, but thats not saying much as a popular adsl forum is full of moaning about them.

I suggest if he looks to see if zen http://www.zen.co.uk/ is available to him, they do seem to have the least moaning about problems and their support is probably the best in the business.
