All over the world...
Right am in the market for a new laptop and 2 have caught my eye so to speak.

One is the Dell Vostro 13" laptop with an Intel Core I5-460M cpu that runs at 2.5GHZ, comes with 3gb of ram and a 320gb HD...spoke to Dell and they said they can do that for £650 all in.

The second is the HP Envy 14" laptop with an Intel Core I5-450M cpu that runs at 2.4GHZ, comes with 4gb of ram and a 500gb HD. It costs about £1000 though so is a fair bit more expensive than the Dell one but does look very nice though.

So which one is the better one??...not really looking to game or anything on it...just the usual web browsing, downloading and transferring stuff over to my NAS box....they both interest me as i need a gigabit ethernet connection.

So which one should i go for??...i can spend up to a £1k max so if anyone can recommend any other better laptops then be my guest but i must state that the laptop needs to be under 15".

TIA

The Dell Vostro represents much better value than the HP Envy... you can upgrade the RAM to 4GB and stick in a 500GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD and still come in well under a grand.

Samsung SF310 / QX410, which should be available soon. Kinda the middle ground. BTW, the Envy is about the size of the MBP 15. Slightly thicker, slightly smaller in width.

For a tad cheaper, you can have a look at the Asus U35jc, or the Acer 3820tg. Similar kind of laptops. i5 + 310M, made for mobility and a bit of multimedia / gaming on the side. No optical drive.

Yep was looking at the options....it does seem better value than the HP envy but thought id have a serious look at the envy as every laptop ive owned so far...about 3 have all been Dell so wanted a change.

Think im just gonna spec the hell out of the Dell Vostro and get that instead...the Envy you really cant spec like the Dell from what i have seen so far.
