Hey all, I'm looking for a new TV to go in my new flat and was wondering what was out there? Don't want to spend too much as I expect to be selling it in about 12 months or so.

I want a good 42-46" LED, slim as possible (I like the slimlines). Will be predominately used for 360/PS3 gaming and movie streaming. Would also be very good to have a USB and the ability to read movies straight from an external HDD.

Not bothered about sounds as have external 5.1, not bothered for 3D, and since my amp has numerous HDMI, I don't need many (probably just one) on the TV itself?

Is there anything else I should be looking out for? Anyone with suggestions?

I bought a Panasonic TX-L42E5B recently, it's around £550. I bought Panasonic because I think they make quality, no fuss, usable TVs. I have been pleased with the picture quality, but I'm no expert. My only slight disappointment is that I don't think it has an inbuilt internet browser, but I haven't looked into it thoroughly yet. There is one very minor annoyance about how the Freeview guide buttons work, but that's it. Other than that, pleased.

Just FYI the other TV I was looking at was the Samsung UE40ES5500KXXU. That also looks like a nice TV for the money, but I went with Panasonic as I reckoned that would be more reliable.

Rgds

Thanks for the tip - will take a look. Not sure I'm bothered about internet browsing on the TV particularly, with three laptops, two smart phones, the 360 and the PS3 in a one bed flat, I should think I might be able to find another way ;) :D

By freeview guide buttons - do you mean the OSD? Because hopefully that wont bother me too much either as I expect I'll do most of the viewing through the PVR (and thus use that's guide).

Yes, pressing Guide on the remote to see what's on. The very slight annoyance is in which buttons to press. For some reason when I want more info I often end up asking it to record something, I should be pressing a different button but it's not the natural one.
