Hey all,

As per topic really, which browser do you find best at the moment for compatibility/speed/reliability etc?

Until recently I was a big Camino fan but since 1.5.3 release it seems to have been a bit unstable for me - just freezes on some pages and a force quit is needed.

Never been that impressed with Firefox on the Mac (and i'm a diehard fan of Firefox on Windows) - just seems slow and unwieldy somehow.

I've just updated to 10.4.11 which includes the Safari 3.0 update and must say it seems really quick and reliable so far.

What are other peoples favourites and why?

Safari 3.

I used to be a fan of Firefox, but Safari just seems a more stable, faster browser (in Leopard) so I've converted :)

Safari on Leopard :)

I use to be a FireFox on XP, switched to Mac, I used Firefox but found it buggy and crashes too often. Used Opera for a good 6months till I switched to Leopard and Safari on there is... so much faster and stable.

Camino is my backup for sites that don't work properly on Safari (same engine as Firefox)

i was using safari on my brother-in-laws mac (i'm getting a mac next week) and found safari to be fast and simple but really watered down?? can it be modded a bit to allow some decent tab browsing features and the like?

Safari 3 (on leopard) has tabs if that is what you mean

Yeah Safari 2 had tabs, just not enabled by default.

I use Safari, but I have firefox installed for the rare compatibility problem. I also used it for testing websites. The Mac firefox is ugly and dodgy so I dont use it very often.

I must say though that I never used any firefox extentions on Windows so that wasnt something I missed moving to Safari. As far as I'm concerned Safari does exactly what it says on the tin so I'm happy.

And Safari 3 does seem faster. I'm always skeptical when people say "ooh the new version is much faster" but in this case I agree.

Safari 3 on Leopard. Safari 2 on Tiger was good but doesn't so well on a few sites.

Firefox just feels ... erm ... stodgy. Like spotted dick with thick custard. It's the best browser for Windows, but doesn't work as well on OS X. Shame. The only thing I use Firefox for is Citrix access into work as the client won't work with Safari.
