Which Mac laptop?

Run Boot Camp Assistant. It downloads the latest driver pack from Apple to either USB or burns an optical disk then re-partitions the HDD. Shove Windows 7 disk in and reboot then install it as per normal. Once into Windows 7 install the Boot Camp drivers. Job done.

Really is this simple. I was worried at first when I was doing this to my Macbook Pro expecting all kinds of problems, it couldn't have been easier to be honest.

Expensive compared to what?

Other laptops of greater or equal power, or even Macbooks.

Dont get me wrong, I'd happily purchase one but for the sake of a cm or so of thickness you pay a lot of money for less power.

Can't really believe that I'm being called upon to explain a statement that any normal person knows to be true but just to be clear....

Apple stuff is expensive, MacBook Airs are even more expensive.

You can get something that does the same for a lot less... therefore they are expensive.
In the same way that I could buy a Casio to do the same job as the expensive watch I'm wearing.

For the record I have lots of Apple stuff, along with many other expensive items. Sometimes you have to pay for quality, that's what makes some things EXPENSIVE.

Phew, hopefully that's clear enough.

P.s. please defensive MBA owners don't try to justify the cost, I'm not necessarily saying they aren't worth the money but if you drew up a table of laptops and cost, MBAs would be at the expensive end.

wow, not sure if you're trolling or not, but come on. Take this

and flip it around :
"Don't get me wrong but for the sake of a a bit of power, you can get the slimmest, lightest notebook around."

Yes, but draw up a table of laptop dimensions, and weights. The Air will be at the top of the table. Your point?

I quite agree, if you want the slimmest lightest notebook you have to pay for it. ie. They're expensive.

**** me, I didnt think I could have been any clearer.

Here is my point, THEY'RE EXPENSIVE.

Why would I be trolling? I love the MacBook Air. Despite being expensive they're lovely bits of kit. At the end of the day its a domestic notebook that starts at £850. Expensive.

I could spec a dozen laptops more expensive than a MBA. So what?
And expensive is relative. If I make a £500 a day, it's not that pricy really.

A dozen laptops more expensive, hundreds less expensive.

So yes, it is relative. It is implied by the omission of any qualification that we are talking in comparison to other laptops... of course we are. What else would we be talking about?

Anyway it is clear that our opinions differ and of course you are entitled to yours.

I say " MacBook Airs are expensive" so can you do me a favour just to finish things off?

Make your next post " MacBook Airs are not expensive" so I can quote it and add it to my signature.

It'll then make me smile every time I see it.

The MacBook Air is broadly a similar price to the copycat Windows 7 Ultrabooks, ergo it's not expensive. The vast majority are between £900 and £1000, as is the MacBook Air.

Please stop trolling.

Comparing something expensive to something else expensive just means they're both expensive, not that neither are expensive

Come on Magicboy, make the post:" Macbook Airs are not expensive."

Actually it's not the slimmest, or lightest and there are slimmer, lighter, more powerful laptops around. £1450 is pretty expensive for a laptop whichever way you look at it... I don't understand why some mac users are ALWAYS so defensive...

Just because something isn't expensive doesn't mean it's not worth the cost. I guess next you'll be saying a Lamborghini is not expensive either, there are a dozen cars more expensive than it...

(Oh, by the way, I'm typing this on my MBA...;))

For a similar price.

When compared to similar 'super cars' it's not expensive. You guys need to compare like with like.

Oh btw i'm typing this on a mbp 17

Simliar laptops.

Just happens that many people define similar based on technical specs like processor and disk etc. Some people define similar based on form factor and design. This distinction leads to these stupid arguments.

Saying one of those phrases is as retarded as saying the other.

So it's retarded to say "MacBook Airs are expensive"?

At that point I think you've proved you are a one-eyed Apple fanboy. Anyone in their right mind (which now excludes you since you think think the above statement is retarded) knows that Apple stuff is expensive and that MacBook Airs are even more expensive.

You've kind of proven how skewed your version of reality is with the "Lamborghinis aren't expensive" statement. Now that is retarded.

Interestingly we have a post from a MacBook Air owner above (Amp34) that clearly knows his MBA is expensive and is happy to pay for the quality and convenience it offers. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it isn't worth the money.

I'm typing this on a second hand Macbook. Guess what? It was expensive.

Expensive for a second hand, three year old laptop. Of course, no one else needs that qualifying statement but it seems you need a context for every statement.

I'm still laughing at "I earn £500 a day" but now I've got "I've got a 17"MBP" and "Lamborghinis aren't expensive" to snigger at too. Thanks for that.

lol this thread is hilarious!

Some people are clearly devoid of common sense.

T yping this from my expensive Dell Precision as I can't be bothered to get my mbp17 out of my bag.

Back on topic, I have had both mbp13 and air13. Both are great machines but I ended up selling the air as the pro was more versatile (i have 8gb, 120gb ssd and 750gb hdd)

haha it actually would have been expensive if I hadn't blagged a winner from Dell Outlet.

And Lamborghini's aren't expensive, I was tossing up between that and a 106, ended up going for the 106 as it did more miles to the gallon ;)

For a similar price.

Not far off.

When compared to similar 'super cars' it's not expensive. You guys need to compare like with like.

While that is true to an extent, as a car it is expensive compared to the average car.

Oh btw i'm typing this on a mbp 17

Well at least we know now why you think it's not expensive. You must realise however that the vast majority of people will think differently? The average laptop is bought for about £500ish, compared to that it's expensive...
