Which Machine Took All Your Pocket Money?

Chase HQ, WEC Le Mans and Operation Wolf in the "good ol' days"

Then when my friends and I would go to Laser Quest in Swindon there was a Mortal Kombat 2 machine just after it was released, we used to spend so, so much on that thing lol

Later games that literally inhaled my cash were Ridge Racer, Scud Race and in Ilfracombe where we used to go on family holiday they had the 8 player Daytona USA!!!!

Bit of a reoccurring addiction to Racing games there lolol........still the same now :D

Got to be 1983 Atari Star Wars. Back in my early teens there were a few machines locally, at Motorway services and every amusement arcade at the coastal areas we used to caravan at.

Never had much cash but some of it found it's way into these machines. I did eventually get fairly good at it and could go 2 hours on a single credit so costs dropped quite dramatically.

I spent a lot of money in arcades, every game probably had a share of my pocket money.

In my late teens Terminator 2 swallowed much of my education grant money :)

Mortal Kombat - I met my mate from school down the seafront on a couple of occasions during the school holidays just to go and play this one game. I remember going to Woolworths with a bit of paper and writing down the fatalities that were printed in CVG before I met him.

We probably pumped a fiver in each, then I remember going to the chippy for lunch and then going back to the arcade and spending whatever we had left to try and thrash Goro. When Mortal Kombat II came out we did the same, except this time my mate knew how to drop a certain gambler and we would go and do that when we ran out of money lol. Good times.

WWF Wrestlefest - There was a sit down version of this at one arcade I frequented. To this day it is one of my favorite arcade games and I still play it regularly. You would really get your money worth as the matches lasted ages and the first couple of levels were easy. I got to the last level to fight Legion of Doom many times but never won in the arcade. I've since completed it on my home machine after reading some guides. Very interesting game and just beautiful to say it came out in 1991.

In later years at Uni, honorable mentions go to Sega Rally, Time Crisis, House of the dead and Tekken3

Several classics from the late 80s but Shinobi probably was the biggest coin guzzler for me. I knew one guy who could complete it on a single credit (10p at the time) Not me though...
