I'm a novice and just bought my first 3D printer - Ender 3v2. I'm looking on Amazon for a spool of filament, but there is so much to choose from.

Can anyone suggest a particular make? Is there much difference between them?

I use Sunlu PLA and that is my go to everyday PLA print filament as it can be bought in bulk from a company that sells computer stuff so I can't link or mention it here. It works well. I also like Eryone and Overture PLA but probably won't buy anymore Overture as the cardboard spools are problematic in my printers AMS (Automatic Material System)

eSun PLA/+
Polymaker Polyterra is nice too
3dJake EcoPLA

never had any issues with those. unlike some of the stuff I picked up cheap on ebay.
tbh most of the ones you get from real shops are fine.

I’ve literally tried every brand under the sun and best value is eSun and sunlu, just never have problems with them, make sure to get PLA+.

A matte black filament is good for the arsenal as well, it hides layer lines and makes prints look very nice.

Prusament if you wanna be really fancy have nice prints and perfectly wound spools. But honestly sometimes not worth it.

Got 20 reels of Sunlu recently, a site were doing 10 reels for £99.99 in various colours, I think it's went up to £110 now but still good stuff and good value.

Most brands I've tried are ok, not really had a bad brand yet and I've tried quite a few now.

how will you use that much or do you think it'll keep ok?

Got two printers at work printing test parts and some parts for use on machines, it goes pretty quickly. Each reel is sealed so should last well until opened, I try to use a reel up before starting a new one.

Then we have the "Homers"....it goes even quicker lol.

My eSun arrived today and came with some vacuum bags as part of a promotion.

Does the filament need to go back in the bag when not in use? Or are they only needed when stored for some time?
I've been putting mine back in with the desiccant. I think it's only a real issue if you've a damp house

I got the cheapest filament I could get from the auction, 1kg for a tenner delivered and that was last year, kiddo uses it for 3d pen but got a 3d printer yesterday and using this filament with it its working great no issues. Does say pla+ on the box

Done printing today on some old pla pogi brand white filament. Going fine so far. Whats all this about moisture getting into filament? These rolls i got have been sitting around without being vaccum sealed for 6 months or more. How do i know if filament has expired?
