Which MMO? ..other than WoW

Eve is made in a way the pvp is more relaxed and not as much twitch reflex more of pointy clicky.

I beg to differ, especially as pointing and clicking in pvp isn't really an option over key binds. Sure, maybe not in fleet fights, but in small gang/solo every second counts and if you click and accidentally drag a module to another slot that's time wasted. Now, if that module is vital to your success, them few seconds wasted is either you dying or not.

I'm sure a few of the OcUK guys can tell you how close some of the fights I've had with them were, some down into less than 100 hull.

Another vote for Eve Online here, having played since 2003.

Can be slow paced at times and like has been said you can sit around for hours sometimes waiting for a fleet fight between literally hundreds of people which then never happens because of lag or other problems (desync).

The battles though for the majority of the time are great and no game can compare to be honest. The adrenaline really does kick in when fighting because a loss can be substantial but it makes it so much more fun.

i have played eve (and still do) for a good few years.

I'm just stating the bad points which are ofc my opinion and i thought they should be shared.

Playing UO has probably hardened me to a level that Eve doesn't give me that much of a rush. At times it will get exciting but not to the level that UO did.

Anyway this is going off subject slightly...

If i could turn back the clock i would say go for UO!

“Out of interest why not WoW?”
It’s a very simple basic game that’s been simplified for the mass’s compared to other MMORPG's.
Wow is like a beginner MMORPG after which you move onto the more hardcore ones.

tbh EVE is win. FACT.
nothing better than two gangs running into eachother when neither expect it :p

For me, Eve was a big no-no simply because it was point and click third person. I would say Elite spoiled me for space sims, I want that 'from the cockpit' total joystick (or keyboard on the BBC B lol)control. That being said its a huge universe with tons of players and when I read about the things that happen in the gameworld, corporations, betrayal, huge battles, I always think very cool, wish I could have bought into that - but it wasnt to be. Theres a free trial so you can try it out and see if its for you.

Theres also apparently a new jumpgate coming out if thats your kettle of fish thats a total re-do of the original. Jumpgate Evolution, its what im pinning my hope of an Elite'esque MMO on.

Otherwise its another vote for LOTRO.

Played LoTRO for about 10hours and just could not get into it at all. Vanguard I played for about a year (even with the bugs) but not played for about 2-3 months. Guess it depends on what you like.

Of the two I'd go VG but not played EVE or PoTBS at all.

You cant really compare Eve to other mmorpg games, it takes a hell of a lot more knowledge and skill points to play the game to its full potential and its very daunting to start, but this means after 2 years there's still new roles I can play each time.
And yes fleet combat can be boring but flying through 0.0 with 4/5 cruisers can be fun with a scout and you can beat small gangs of battleships.

Also the amount of detail in the eve world is phenomenal, like the economy.

i've been looking for another mmo after selling my wow account, trouble is i want something that doesn't take up to much time but i think they all suck you in and you end up spending hours everyday playing.

Wait for Age of conan or Warhammer online. if you can not wait the the best alternative to WoW is LOTRO.
