Which MMO?

I have just cancelled my WOW account not permanently just for the time being.

I have re subbed to AION which has greatly improved and will be even better in September when the 2.0 update/expansion is released.

I have also reinstalled Age Of Conan again ,reports are that this game has been greatly improved, this can now be played for nothing aswell with no subscription needed.

Lord Of The Rings Online has also been made free to play aswell.

Conan isn't free to play?

EDIT- unless you mean the trial?

WoW copied most of it's ideas from DAOC yet didn't implement them anywhere near as good.

Hmm..thats the first time I have ever heard that connection. I played Daoc for 3 years from release and to be honest I really cant see where "most" of the ideas of WoW came from Daoc.

Perhaps you could enlighten me as to which ideas they copied from Daoc?

There is no such MMO for what you want.

The only crafting system which will provide you with enough depth is EVE sorry to say!

Wrong! He needs to play DAoC! :p

Spell Crafting, Alchemy, Tailoring, Armour Crafting, Weapon Crafting & Fletching :)

It isn't free to play, but it's the best MMO there has ever been, or ever will be.

Warhammer online, I enjoyed it. Its mindless crazy fun war ;)

Mortal online might interest you as its sandbox at its best.

And I'd say wait for Guild Wars 2 next-gen mmo today! :D

Don't play either of these myself, but i think i remember hearing good vibes about fallen earth, and pirates of the burning sea's crafting/gathering systems.

Not sure how true that is, be good to hear from anybody that actualy plays those.

Have you considered Final Fantasy 14?

I know its not out for another 2 months and its difficult to know how much you can do as a pure crafter but it looks promising currently. First of all the harvesting and crafting are actual classes you can level as you would a melee or magic one, and they will count towards the level cap for you physical level. There is also no limit to the number of crafting (or other) classes you can take. In theory you could hit the level cap without killing anything but taking a harvesting class will also give you an attack as well: throw stone.

I haven't had chance to investigate the crafting fully, but there is a partial list of things to make on the beta forums, a single shield requires 6 components all of which are at least 1 refining product from the raw ingredients if not further, for example, you can gather copper ore, which you make into copper nugget, which you make into copper nails which you can use in making the shield.

There are currently 3 announced harvesting classes (and I am certain there is at least one more unannounced) and 8 crafting classes.

I can pretty much guarantee it is not a WoW clone.

I thought the best MMO for doing crafting/ non fighting is RuneScape. Yes the graphics are pants blah blah and its a grind but it has DirectX support and full screen modes now.

Aion but wait til 2.0 for the downgrade of grind and new content.

Lotro for epic storyline and mature content.

Eve for its sheer stupidity.

Don't touch WoW with a brown stick.

No love for City of Heroes? my favourite MMO of the past 5 years.

A good game back in its day. I started out on the US servers back in 2004 when it was first launched. I haven't tried it of late and I believe they have updated the graphics engine. Will have to make a return to it when I get my new graphics card.

New Expansion, Going Rogue will be launched next month and will probably come with a weekend 'reactivation' for free. You guys should try it again, there's loads more zones, an auction house/Black market, crafting and co-op zones to play with the 'other side' as well.

WoW is not as original as people think, they actually steal a lot of things from other games.

Try Guild Wars if you like single player MMO's otherwise honestly, just stick with WoW, there's nothing that much better out there.

There are a hundred one games "better" than WOW out there.
I'll agree and say there is nothing bigger.
But as a game, WOW lacks any kind of depth, difficulty or challenge.
