Which MMORPG are you looking forward to?

Still waiting for huxley or any other true new fps mmo.

Didn't know a new star wars one was so close. Will be plying that as SWG is the only decent MMO I've played and I've tried most of them since.

None now, I think my time with MMOs is over. Too many disappointments in the genre, too little imagination or evolution. The average MMO player now is a world apart from me in terms of lifestyles, attitudes, gaming wants, overall personality so I have little in common now with most of the people I meet in MMOs.

Its back to LAN gaming/offline gaming for me, imo the MMO genre has seen its best days and its golden era is now gone, at least for the foreseeable future.

same here, the worst thing about MMO's for me is how they make it so its harder to get exp when in a party, it just discourages players to work together and turns the game into a lonely single player where the only point of having other players on there is to trade items with... and i hate games such as WoW where you have oversized 3D worlds and it takes too long to get anywhere, i prefer the standard (old skool) isometric veiw RPG like diablo II where you have way points and town portals to get places and the upto 8 player games where its much better to party then fight alone, i want to see more games like this :(

Currently playing Darkfall at the moment and I've not had enough time to really get into it properly until 10 tonight but I'm really looking forward to the Bioware mmo the old republic.

Unfortunately I missed the SWG train and I've been wanting to play a sci-fi based mmo ever since I started MMO's as I've never played anyything but fantasy.

I know the quality will be there and the story but will the authenticity be there and good mechanics.

But the downside for rewarding groups are, if your a solo player coming in alone, you'll level slower and be left behind by the friends and there groups.

There will never be a balance between this.

if you havent allready, try final fantasy xi online - massive death penalty - you lose 10% of xp unless you get a raise which reduces it to like 5% unles you get raised by a lvl 75 whitemage who can reduce it to barely nill but then you cant do anything for 5 mins while you wait for strong revival sickness to wear off. if no one can raise you you have to go to your home point which is usually miles away! and can delvl. it has hard missions and punishes you for every little thing you do wrong - i played it for years great game - though the missions and lvl grind has become a bit easier recently you still can barely solo at all on most jobs (classes) past lvl 20 or so. plus it atually has storylines which are actually pretty good

havent looked into much new games - kind of enjoying age of conan atm they seem to have fixed most of the bugs and the combat system is cool for melee classes.

I did look into that but was put off by the reports of no one to group with at low level, which kind of renders it hard to level when you're reliant on it.

hmm theyve added a lvl sync feature recently where higher lvls can drop down to a lower lvl to group with low lvl groups which makes it easier but even before that it wasn't too bad - the good thing about ffxi is you can lvl all classes with 1 character - (you change to the 1 you want in your house) so theres always people with a high lvl job looking to lvl something else from scratch. end game is very varied - tons of things to do - not just "raids". and very original world compared to other mmos - not generic fantasy

guild wars 2 lost my self to the first one for a year but kinda lost intrest as the exspansions took too long to come but then i would mind seeing what Blizzard's got instore...

Agreed .....unfortunatly. Whilst I still play Warhammer and enjoy it (to a point) and have fond memories of preTBC WoW, UO was the pinnacle of mmo's . Curse OSI's brilliance, and curse Blizzard for making the current gen of mmo players not "get it".

Been lightly discussed in the Darkfall thread that MMORPG's at the moment are pretty poor. I'm desperate for a slick fantasy based one which not only encourages group play but demands it and is hard to play unlike most of these new fluffy ones e.g death penalty, no insta travel etc. I don't think Darkfall will be what im hoping for but it looks like being the next best thing for a long time.

I'm also looking forward to Huxley and hope it can really improve on Planetside which was excellent at the start.

So, what MMORPG's are you looking forward to and why?

I was looking forward to the new starwars mmo but after seeing the screens it looks like WoW reskinned, also stargate worlds but the gameplay is boring from the vids and the beta so im looking forward to more awesome goodness from Lord of the rings Online, looks gorgeous, plays very well and has a mature community.

Once I finish with eve thats me finished with MMOs, Eve along with UO and pre TBC WoW were fun but its all gone stale now.

I have to agree and to disagree.

I think Bioware is potentially the only company left with the ability to inject something new.

Sadly i think with them being EA puppets, they'll just use the same old tired strategy.

I wish they'd get a move on releasing content mind you

thing is Moria was massive, but so easy it really doesn't take that long and doesn't really feel fun playing through again with an alt. The problem I feel is theres SO long to go in terms of content and I wish it was faster, arguably it should be.

Maybe the book updates inbetween should be less frequent so they can do larger area updates quicker? I'm not sure, to be fair they'd done an awful lot on Moria and even to a certain degree made it very difficult by being inside they had to design ceilings everywhere aswell as no vegetation junk to stick everywhere so it didn't look completely barren. With almost all the rest of it outdoors now it should be quicker, reuse a lot of what they've already designed.

I ended up grabbing the lifetime sub with the update at the reduced rate so I can ignore it for a year and play a month or two of new content whenever the heck I like, which I quite like the idea of.

I was looking forward to DAOC Origins, but they have apparently put it on hold because Mythic are scared of taking players from their Warhammer player base.

I'd settle for 6000 players on the European Dyvet server every day though!
