Which MMORPG for crafting?

Crafting in wow is rubbish. To make good gear you need raid instance drops, then the gear you can make is worse than the gear that drops in the raids, so kind of begs the question, whats the point?

I would go for EQ2 even though I got the impression it got nerfed a bit, but its still pretty good.

Plus that is a good joke good crafting in WoW, well there a people who say it has good PvP. Must be among the same group, crafters don't know what a real PvP system is.

SWG was awesome for crafting, if you played on the kettemoor server ( US roleplay ) and used lokian wheat theres a good chance you bought it off me ( big hairy wookie called Huide ) i never crafted for a living but i made millions just supplying 1 resource.

Why did they have to go and destroy one of the best MMo's ever :(

tried crafting in wow, daoc, eq2 and vanguard, and EQ2 wins hands down.

Pre CU swg beat them all though. :P

out of the games i've played i'd probably say lineage 2, i dont know how the game is now, I played it chronicle 1/2 at best, but the chances of getting full items from mobs was extremely rare, almost entirely all gear in the game had to be crafted, and there was always loads of trades for materials/resources going on in the main cities, and after all the hard work there were chances of crafting failures, used to spend hours running round giran wheeling and dealing :)

World of Warcraft.

That had one of the worst crafting systems I have ever seen, it was just too simple and looted gear was usually superior to anything you could create.

Personally I thought the best was in the Saga of Ryzom crafting system, but it wasn't a popular game. What I would've loved to have seen was a similar housing system to SWG in it as well.

Horizons had a bloody good crafting system, pity the rest of the game was pants.

Along with Vanguard, Horizons releasing too early and being a disaster was such a waste of a possibly fantastic game. I wonder if they ever look back and wish they waiting 6 months.

i'd actually recommend Runescape in this case, that's the only game which actually does have a huge emphasis on economy and crafting.

WoW's crafting system sucks

Ryzom =D

the craft system is "simple" and yet VERY complex when u get into it.

very diverse world, and quite large. its not hugly populated but the outpost wars are a site to behold - 150+ players all in one place trying to kill each other and win for the attacking/defending guild (or faction )

there is no gear drops by any bosses. (except the 4 major race bosses - wich drop plans that enable players to *eventually* craft the same armour anyways)

pretty much all gear is player crafted

and recepies are fixed, but finding them is a life long quest tbh

the game is also totally free as far as "classes" is more classless, a single player *can* learn everything (not really possable to make a bad build)

but dont go thinking that it means u can just craft all your own gear, there is a great deal of time and efort required to become even anywhere close to self sufficient - but its not long before your own craft becomes usefull to others.

the other bonus for crafters is that no items can ever be repaired, so there is allways demand for new gear :)

the community is very mature and friendly imo aswell

(ps yes i play the game. no i dont work for gameforge (creators of Ogame) xD)
