Just interested really ...

We use a combination of Solarwinds Orion and Compuware Vantage here to monitor component and service availability for our clients.

What do you use?

Ouch @ WhatsUp.

At the moment, i'm trying to implement Groundwork/Nagios in our organisation but i'm having issues with getting it to work either over VPN/WAN.

Probably not the sort of scale you're looking at but we use a Mutiny monitor appliance - works very well although is a bit limited..

I'm always amazed at some of the places i see WhatsUp Gold, some very very large compaines do use it :)

Cacti also crops up everywhere, I always liked it but still surprised me to see telcos and mobile carriers using it.

Anybody got any recommendations for environmental monitoring solutions? Looking at either CliMate CM-2 or Senturion Environmental Monitor unless anyone else has any suggestions?

Our Operations Services use "Nimbus" for monitoring Servers and Services (Windows and Unix).

It does the job but I can't help think there are better applications out there.

Patchlink, Sanctuary and NetPro are used for audit, software releases and the like.

Being a financial institution we have to track everything.

Solarwinds for networks

SCOM 2007 for server monitoring

SMS2003 for client auditing

Frontrange/Centennial for software licensing

Sanctuary for USB/device control
