Right, i have decided to take the plunge and am going to upgrade my (thus far rock solid) P4 3ghz PC for an AMD 3800 X2. I'm trying to do this on a budget so intend keeping my RAM and AGP graphics cards. Here is what i have or will be getting:

3800 X2 processor
Arctic freezer HSF
Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT (2 * 512mb modules)
Leadtek Winfast 6800GT AGP card
SB Audigy Plat sound card with breakout box (yup, the original black one !! :D)

The past two boards i have had have been Abit and i have had no problems with them what so ever. I've seen the Abit AV8 3RD Eye VIA K8T800 Pro and the Abit UL8 ULi M1689 here, are either particuarly good (or bad) ? Apart from the chipset, whats the big difference between the two as the second is about £20 cheaper.

Any other boards around that price recommended ?

PC mainly going to be used for games and photoshop work, am i likely to see a huge difference in perfomance ?

Is that JUST becasue it has a pci-e slot as well mate or is it a better board anyway ? I'll probably change the lot in a year or so anyway so pci-e slot not really essential :)

Cheers mate, also spotted this: Epox EP-9NDA3J nForce3 Ultra in the B grade section....is this a decent boards ?

Cheers mate, had a check of that board but it only goes to 1600 HTT and the chip i'm gonna use is 2000 HTT (aparently...still not used to this AMD speak !! :D)
Been checking more into this and the power supply i have (Thermaltake "Butterfly") only has a 20 pin connector but most newer boards seem to need a 24 :(
The Abit AV8 3RD Eye VIA K8T800 Pro has a 20 pin connector though so it looks like my choice is being made for me !! Can anyone confirm this board will definately be okay with the kit i'm trying to run in it ? Now itching to make a purchase !! :D
