Hi Guys

Hoping you guys can help me, Im going to be ordering some bits for my first build over xmas, This is going to be for a gaming rig for one game in particular, Arma 2. I cant decide which motherboard to go for, I want to be able to overclock. budget wise £150 max but the lower the better.

the spec I have got so far is

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £161.99
Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £111.98
Corsair Force Series 3 60GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive £83.99
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 650W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXV2UK) £79.99
Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler £29.99
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz£26.99

Any ideas which to go for I like the look of the Asus P8Z68, if there is a better one to go for or any problems with the Asus board i would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks

I have the Asus board ( p8z68-v pro version though) and so far its been great. The BIOS is nice and I haven't had any problems so far!

Thanks for thatm do you know what the difference is between them that and the pro version?

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the two. Things the PRO has that the other one doesn't:

2 extra SATA III (6Gb/s), but you can't use those 2 for RAID.

Onboard firewire (IEEE 1394)

Bluetooth V 3 (the other one has V 2.1)

If none of those appeal to you, then I see no need to spend the extra money.

Would go for a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3

Have one with my 2500k running sweet with a 5gig overclock at low volts.

It also looks amazing with the Grey Hyper X ram as it matches the heatsinks on the motherboard.

Also with the board itself in black, looks nice with all the corsair stuff.

Corsair Force Series 3 60GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive £83.99

get the 60GB OCZ Agility 3 its cheaper and a really great SSD 71.99 atm ;)

I would go for a gen 3 board for future proofing, something like this would be good-

It's a little over budget but is one of the best Z68 gen3 boards out there. If you really want to stick with the Asus board then i'd go for a gen3 one BUT!, there have been lots of complaints with Z68 asus boards so just be careful and do a little home work before commiting.
