so i am after a new mouse/pad..

my current setup is Logitec G5 mouse and Razer ExactMat

had for ..... only but the mat seems to be worn out allready the anti reflective coating feature
that they boast about on discription doesnt seem to be true since i can see nearly a mirror finish of my face in it now.. well anyway

i was looking at mabe an mx518 mouse with mabe a Razer Goliathus Alpha Speed Mat: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GS-005-RA&groupid=702&catid=32&subcat=
(btw does anyone know why this mat is 4 quid more expencive then its control counterpart?)

does anyone have experience with these 2 matched mouse/pad
i play mainly ut99 so a lot of ppl say an optical mouse is more suited then a laser which is why im going down the mx518 path

I have an OCZ equalizer mouse got it for £15 didn't really want to spend much more on a mouse

But the razer deathadder is a good mouse and the Saitek Cyborg Adjustable Gaming Laser Mouse

yes when it comes to cloth pads optical mice are a lot better as the laser can cause a juddering of the mouse at lower sensitivities , the mx518 is one of the best and most popular gaming mice, I myself am used to copperheads so i stick with them.

As for a combination of mouse and mat , i would go with the Steelseries Qck as the mx518 is a lot better with a cloth mouse mat , especially if you use a lot of your arm ( if you use ur arm a lot in fps games then the qck+ (massive one) might be a better choice).

I suppose since you play unreal you will use a lot of wrist but i have played a pretty decent level of css and the mx518 steelseries qck combination is very popular.

thnx for the replys

i am limited on space as i use the pullout drawer on my desk so would need something around the same size as the Exactmat

MCH is there any reason to choose the Steelseries Qck over the Razer Goliathus Alpha Speed Mat , i have not used or seen either so dont know the pros and cons between them, every little bit of info would help greatly

It's hard to explain which one is best through the actual composition of the mousemat but from my experience in the css scene every1 will back the steelseries qck mat so if you want a cloth mat go for that one you wont be disappointed. As for having little space dont get the qck+ then :P

ok so i just bought the mx518 and steelseries qck , and i find it ok to play with on games like left4dead and css but its not very good for UT99 my main game :/ pritty dissapointed but mabe i just need to get used to the new setup who knows , mabe i should have got the razer Goliathus instead

I will buy a deathadder tomorrow... I tried it out today in one of our local stores... i must say it feels great and the design is really cool.

I will be buying the QPAD|UC Large mat... It's a great design and I tried the deathadder on it and on a razer goliathus... and although I wanted to have everything razer... the deathadder performed better on the QPAD so I'm going with it.

Well my opinion is very bias for mice, mainly because I'm a lefty

I use the Razer Copperhead personally and its the best mouse I've ever had, probably because I can remap all the buttons on the mouse and not through drivers, so it works on all PCs.

However, the MX518 seems a pretty good choice if you're not a stubben left handed git like me :p

As for mouse mats, I've got the ExactMat and I've had no issue with mine at all, both sides preform as good as the day it was purchased, maybe you had a duff one? Razer make a lot of duff peripherals unfortunatly...

i had a death adder, i smashed it on the desk (it survived 2 years) i then bought another death adder, best gaming mouse ive used by a long shot and using a normal mouse instead of it...i can't
