Hi all.

I'm new here and I could be wrong, but there doesn't seem to be a section for for the discussion of peripherals.

I spent almost 2 weeks straight hunting for the perfect keyboard to go with my new HTPC that I'm currently buiding. That keyboard did not exist and so I bought 2 keyboards -

1. Logitech K400 (basically my giant remote control for lazy viewing/surfing)

2. Logitech G110 (illuminated FULL keyboard with numpad AND one touch media buttons, extra G keys)

All I need now is the perfect wireless mouse. This is why I am posting here. My searching has narrowed my options down to 2....no wait...it's 3!

1. Logitech G700 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-186-LG&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1276

2. Razer Ouroboros - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-073-RA&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1276

3. Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T 9 www.amazon.co.uk/MCB4370900B2-02-Cyborg-Wireless-6400dpi/dp/B009PHSDBM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Let's pretend they are the same price :

Which is the best based on battery life/design+build+feel/performance?
What problems or flaws come with each?
Why should I get this one instead of that one?
Am I paying too much for my car insurance? (yes, probably!)

I have read some negative things about all 3 mice, but they do seem to be the best ones out there.

The more expensive Logitech models out there (Performance MX/Anywhere MX) seem to suffer severe design flaws with scrolling or double-clicking, but the G700 seems to have been designed a little better than those other models, which is why I've put it against the Razer and the Cyborg.

Please help me to choose!! (I plan to do a little gaming too)

I'm off to bed now so I'll check back here tomorrow and see what you guys might have for me, I appreciate any and all advice.

Thanks in advance :)

3 great mice. I've had a play with all of them and they do feel different in your hand - and the RAT9 is of course adjustable. I'm stating the obvious but, if you can get to a shop to see how they feel, and find one that's comfortable for you, that's the one to go for. Everybody is different. I personally didnt like the high-pitched clicky noise from the RAT9 buttons though it was pretty good in most respects. Dont know why but it drove me nuts! :) Yeah, it's just the normal mouse click noise, but more ...annoying on that particular mouse. I currently use a wired Razer Lachesis but felt that the mamba was identical (except without a wire) but I never use wireless mice so couldnt justify extra expense. I also liked the Qpad 5k. The RAT would be in the same category of comfort as those two but that noise- Anyway, the G700 seemed a pretty fine mouse - solidly built, good feel - but it didnt feel all that special to me. With the G700 I also didnt like the 'feel' of the mouse buttons. The Ouroboros is fine-ish. Just thought it was overly priced. This probably doesn't help at all :D Go find a gaming shop and see if you can give them a good feel!

Best of luck ;)

I have G700
For me:

pros
-fits in my hand well
-side buttons are easy to use/well placed
-plenty of custom buttons to use

cons
-Battery life is poor when in gaming mode

Its a little old but also worth looking at is the microsoft sidewinder x8, I had one and I really enjoyed using it.

I have the G700. totally agree with your statement. just changed it cos of battery life, wont go back to a wireless gaming mouse again.

just gone onto a Rat 7 MMO mouse ( wish i had gone for just the Rat 7, mmo has extra buttons but some are not in a good position for fps ).
What a fantastic piece of engineering, nice aluminium frame, added weights, very adjustable, different rests etc.
What i found was it glided so much easier on a matt than all my previous mouses, had to really drop my dpi setting.
Does take ages to get used to, you are always trying new setting etc , cos you can,but well worth it.

Most gaming keyboards, mice, etc are over priced or a gimmik but i am very happy with the Rat and would not go back now.

If thre Rat 9's battery is good then if i was you thats what i would go for .

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I guess it truly is a personal thing when it comes to mice and keyboads.

After much hmmm-ing and hawww-ing and discussion with others I have settled on the RAT 9.

It actually comes with a second battery that can be charging while you're using the other one in the Rat (nice touch!)

Can't wait to try it out, thanks once again guys.

As a heads up, the G700s has just come out in the US (at not much more than the actual retail prices of the G700) and should be coming over here fairly soon as well. It's not /wildly/ different from the G700 from what I can tell, though I haven't heard any battery life complaints, but the main differences are the new 8200 dpi sensor and new coatings so that it doesn't wear down any more.

RAT 9 without question, ive used loads of different types of mice. The RAT 7 i have is by far the best for gaming that ive found. My brother has the razer one you are looking at and he doesnt like it.

i really wouldnt get the rat.... ive had a few cyborg products (including the older rat) and they just havnt been very good at all.

out of your list of 3 id actually go for the logitech...

So I've just bought the RAT 9.

I love the aesthetics of the Razer (looks like the ****in' Batwing) but I can't justify paying that kind of price for it.

And I do love Logitech gear but I have read too many negative/mixed reviews with the G700 and the Performance MX models.

As for the RAT 9, the only negative things I've heard or read have been reports of squeaking (no pun intended). And I love the idea of the second battery.

Anybody know the difference between the RAT 9 and the MADCATZ RAT 9? (if any)

I've had g600 g700 and now im using the logitech performance mx mouse which i've now used the longest, all 3 are greay. I'd recomend g700 or performance mx imo
