Was a few years ago, fresh out of uni with a non IT degree, I applied for a job in the paper, got an interview and got the job (large employer in Devon and Cornwall).
Then for my second job I still had no IT qualifications, applied, got the job easily and still there today.
In the last year we've had a trainee position advertised yet most of the people applying were all experienced, and the guy who got the job has plenty of experience and an mcsa. Yet he's still classed as a trainee, but is on more money than in his previous non trainee job!
Got a few certifications now, which might come in handy once we're all made redundant in 18 months or so
