I am looking for some relatively straight-forward music software that allows all of the following :

1 - Composition via loop samples
2 - Ability to record in MIDI riffs
3 - Sequencing/sound processing

Any ideas ?

Most programs I have come across seem to be only simple loop-based composers, or full-fledged MIDI programs......

Just want something to tinker around with by using loads of samples I have and the ability to add tracks (as loops) played on my MIDI keyboard

Cheers !

What I want is something to use the huge amount of samples I have (around 5000) and drag an drop onto multiple tracks....then 'record' via MIDI further riffs etc, which can then also be tweaked (instrument changes etc.) before also being dragged onto further tracks......combining all into one.

Is that what Fruity Loops and/or Acid are capable of ? I am assuming these pieces of software also handle the MIDI side directly....and fiddling thereafter ?

I'd have suggested Fruity Loops myself.
It'll do all that I believe, and pretty easy to use too.

I'd say go for it, Acid however I cant comment on, never even seen it :p

I wouldnt want to make comment on your intellect... ;)

Nah, each to their own I suppose, some find that Ms Paint has too many options, others find Photoshop dead easy to use :)

Well, downloaded trial/demo of Fruity Loops and there sure are a lot of buttons......

That said, haven't really had the time to try and figure it out yet, so will have a doof around and see what can be done......
