Which NAS/Cloud Solution should I choose?

For a basic NAS you can't go wrong with an HP N54L Microserver. Put FreeNAS on top of it and you have a very capable NAS. You can run non-ECC memory on them (you could with the N40L) not advisable if you are using ZFS but can be done.

I had six 3TB 3.5" drives in my N40L :)
 
Well, not very happy with the Sinology RS814 so far. Have spent this afternoon setting it up and installing the hard drives, etc, but it keeps reporting that Internal Fan 1 has failed and as a result, it constantly beeps and the other fan goes on full whack. I've turned the NAS off/on twice and it's happened both times within a few minutes of it being switched on.

Do you guys think I need to RMA it or can I fix it myself?
