Hi,

Im looking at purchasing a NAS drive. About 250 gigs worth or there abouts. I have found a lot of review... but cant find any roundups actually comparing the drives, so dont know which is supposed to be the best.

I have been looking at the Maxtor, Western Digital, Buffalo, and Lacie drives.

Anyone have experience of these... or know which is the best to go for?

Cheers.

Can only speak for the buffalo link station here , dose what it says on the tin , just set it up then go. I've had one for nearly 2 years now & has served me very well however it is a tad on the slow side if doing a bulk transfer with it . If your planning on using it as a wired media streaming server then it will cope with the likes of that very well indeed.

I've got the Maxtor 200GB NAS drive, and I'm very pleased with it.

I know some people don't like Maxtor, but I've used several Maxtor drives over the years and not once had a problem with them.

Nice and simple to set up, reasonably quick, and good value too.

I use it to store all my media, patches & updates, and anything else that the PCs on my home network may need to share.

You can also set up individual user accounts on it to keep your private data backed up.
