Which NAS/external drive?

Evening all,

I need an external hard drive to backup my digital photos, music and personal data. I've got over 100Gb to backup so far and running out of HDD space now.
I'd like to have the flexibility of a NAS so I can access my pictures and music remotely without the main PC being on.
I was looking at either the Qnap or Snyology NAS devices and probably a 2 disk solution.

Question. How long does it take to backup say 100Gb with one of these devices? Whould it be via the Network port or can I connect my main machine to it via USB or Firewire? The other machines can backup via the Network.
My PC has a Gigabit network port but the router is a regular Netgear DG834, non Gbit.

Any other solutions I should consider before purchasing?

Icybox 4220, has USB connection for computer (and for printer or usb stick so you can share them easily over the network), gigabit ethernet (for when you upgrade your router of course), ftp/samba/NFS/itunes servers, two drives, and pretty stable with the new firmware (there were issues with samsung and WD drives but most has been fixed now, at leas tthe samsun F1s work).

all for £95.44 incl.vat.

out of stock at the moment though :(

Didn't realise the NAS4220 was out of stock but anyway, I've been recommending the NAS4220 to everyone who asks for Nas solutions because they are so fully featured it's unreal.

I've just managed to order the one that was for sale on B Stock so can't wait for it to come :D. Just need to find a couple of big drives to go in it now...

Had one of the nas4220's good unit for the ££'s just dont expect the speeds to be great (15-25Mb/s iirc) it was slightly better on a Gb lan than 100Mb but still wont max a 100mb anyways, also watch what drives you put in too as sammys have had issues check HERE for all you need to know :)
