Which NAS for a gift?

Hi,

I currently have the DS112 myslef and I am quite happy with it. My brother is looking for a unified/global backup solution (not cloud based) and was thinking to buy him as a present a new NAS.
He wants to backup his documents, photos and videos taken taken with mobile. I am thinking of a single disk station but since he is a PC newbie I wonder how easy would be for him to use it. Any ideas/comments?

Just copy files across the network to a mapped drive. Dead easy.

He is a newbie!!

My brother doesn't have much knowledge and would prefer to do it as much as automatically he can instead of opening and copying files...

Why not just an external drive if it's for backup?

A single disk PC with your stuff stored on a NAS is nice and I do that myself, but it's a bit more work/maintenance/more knowledge needed.

What is so difficult in copying to X, W, Y & Z ? :confused:

He is looking for a total solution for everything (PC, mobile, tablet) and wants it to be as streamlined as possible. I though that a local cloud server would be good for him...

I have a DLink sharecentre which are around £60 for 2 bays. Perfect as a data backup.

A simple cheap Western Digital or equivalent might be the easiest option here.
