i've just upgraded my pc and i now have a spare 120 gig hd lying around and was considering using it as a NAS by buying an enclosure for it.
the other option i was thinking of was to buy a full NAS storage solution with hardrive included.

can anyone please advise on what i should do and which products i should go for.

I just want a place to store my music and video

not looking to spend more than £100

Buffalo Linkstation, Linksys Lan station (is that what it is called).

There are a number of solutions - just steer clear of FakeNAS aka Netgear SC101.

Just buy an enclosure - it should be about £70 or so and then hook it up to your router.

I wouldn't mind a good NAS to fit at three 3.5" desktop drives (for the HTPC) that way just have the 60GB 2.5" drive so it'll be really quiet, then place the NAS further away out of sight. Any recommendations?

How long you got?

Requires software on each computer in order for it to be seen i.e. needs drivers - real NAS doesn't. Is known to cook drives as the cooling is inadequate - excess heat = drive early failure. Poor speeds. Just about everything NAS should be, the SC101 isn't.
