read a little on this and the sammy nc20 seems a good one. the kayboard isn't midget size like the smaller netbooks and the battery seems to last a good while - iirc a little under 5 hours of video playback,

basically, i want something for entertainment on flights since i *hate* the onboard entertainment on planes. so obv a good battery life is a must.

NC10 or N110, the NC20 has a netbook spec but it's a little too big, I have managed to use my NC10 comfortably in a car and a coach with it on my lap.

isn't the battery a bit better on the nc20 due to it having the nano as opposed to the atom?

the nc10 and the n110 - how are the keyboards? are they close to full size? someone at work has an 8 inch one (fnarr) and it just feels too small for me.

---

just finished searching again, the n110 seems decent. doesnt seem to be in stock in many places though

I have the NC10 myself. I like the keyboard, I have no problems typing on it and it does not take long to get used to it. not too far off full size I think, MUCH better than some others like the dell mini 9.
Not heard of the N110 before but a quick google states 9 hrs battery life and 93% keyboard... not bad :P

aye, the n110 seems good except that it's not stocked anywhere really. where it is in stock, it's more expensive than the nc20

I bought an N110 just a few days ago and from what I have read and from what the salesman told me, it’s the replacement for the NC10. The only differences that I'm aware of between the two are that the N110 has a even better battery life, slightly bigger trackpad and there are a few aesthetic differences as well. The standard price for the N110 is £50 more than the NC10 as well so it's up to you whether you think it is worth it or not.

The high street store I originally went to had the N110 on display but didn't have any to sell. So I went to their other store down the road and they didn't have it on display, but they had them in their storeroom to sell. I just had to ask. I guess as it's fairly new, they hadn't had time to set up a display yet. So it might be worth asking in store if you want one to see if they have any in their store room.

cant you get a 9cell batt for it for £45 ish off the bay though?

if that's the only real diff, then is it better to buy the nc10 and get a batt of the net?

I don't know if the battery in the N110 is the equivalent of the one you're talking about tomos, but if they are the same, it still might be worth getting the N110 still. I've not used either extensively so I can't really give my opinion, but it might be worth paying more for the slightly bigger trackpad on the N110. An NC10 plus the price of the battery you're talking about is only about £15-£20 less than the cost of the N110. And if you buy something of that auction site, your battery might not be covered by warranty either where as it will be in the N110.

true, it's the lack of availability that's bothering me with the n110. lack of places selling it means less deals on it.

then again, i can buy it next month. basically i want it before i go to italy on 28th aug so need it before then. guess i'll see what it's availability is like in a month or so.

when was the n110 released in the UK anyways?

There's no lack of availability. I believe the DSG group have some kind of time exclusive deal on it. Hence you will have more luck finding it at those stores and sites.

It was released a few months ago.

would explain why i could see it in currys but pretty much nowhere else. would also mean paying 350 for it :(

for me, i think the deal will be, if it's available elsewhere then i might get the n110 early/mid next month. if not, then the nc10 will probably be what i go for. i despise that group.

Well in the first store I went in, the saleman was going to do a deal with me on a slip case to go with it, so there's that to think about when buying in store as well. I actually said no thanks as I didn't think I'd need one, but when I got home I realised I should have actually got one as the included one is absolute carp. Going to go back tomorrow I think and pick one up for full price. :p From what I can tell that group seems to be the only stores that stocks those Swordfish slip cases which everyone says are so good on here.

Also I couldn't find any great deals when I was looking at NC10s. All of them seemed to be in the same ball park of just under £300, so don't necessarily expect to great deals on N110s when they start to become available in other places. I don't think the stores that sell netbooks make much profit on them per unit as they are all relatively cheap.

The N110 is the NC10 replacement, they are pretty much identical in terms of performance, there is only about 30 minutes in the battery improvement.

hmm, so a NC10 along with a 9cell batt off the bay would do, be cheaper overall and blow the n110 away in terms of battery life. :)

that doesn't seem to have a decent battery included. only a 3-cell one from what i read

ta though :)

I can recommend the Asus Eee PC 1000HE. If you stick to xp then the battery life is around 7 odd hours with use. The keyboard is lovely to type on and the screen is a matt screen which is great as u don't get the reflections. I can send you some pics if you want them.

ta matey, there are a few piccies on the trusted review site (i had a look at this one a while back). it seems to tick the boxes like the sammy one but is a tad more expensive - although has a better cpu - atom 280 vs the sammys 270 (am i right in thinking btw, that it's only a 1.6 vs 1.66ghz diff?).

most important thing to me is batt life. with plain basic AVI's mate, what kind of playback time do you get running on the batt only?

heh, for some reason the black one costs more than the white one :o
