Do I snap up an Intel 510 or wait for the OCZ V3 or even the C400?

Things to consider, I'm inpatient, money is already available, will be my first SSD.

Probably better to wait for the new generation SSD's as they are so close to launch. The Vertex 3 would be my choice personally but if your board only has SATA II then your not going to get the full benefit unless you intend to upgrade soon anyway.

Im thinking the exact same mate, what to go for....

Would there be a real noticeable difference in real world stuff like boot speed of you system, loadig apps etc if i hold off getting the intel 510 and go for a vertex3?
 
Keep forgetting my PC specs are not in my sig.

Using an i7 920 on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R with 6GB ram, so I have Sata 3.

Vertex 3 is not available, Intel 510 is (is this not the new one?) and Crucial C400 yet to be announced. Vertex 3 is specced faster but can we believe that as an overall measure?

I see better reviews of current Intel and Crucial drives.

Well if you don't want to wait the extra few weeks then buy the Elmcrest, doubt you'll really miss the extra 50-100MB/s.
