I need to buy 3 Nokia (must be Nokias) for each member of my family... has anyone got any suggestions for the following:

Phone 1

For my Dad, so needs to have the following:
  • Simple (not Symbian)
  • Big Screen
  • Big Keypad
  • Long Battery Life for Talk-Time
  • Up to £200

Phone 2
For my Mum, so needs to have the following:
  • Simple (not Symbian)
  • 3G Compatible
  • Video Phone
  • Average Sized Keypad (she uses LG U880 at the moment)
  • Up to £125

Phone 3
For my Sister, so needs to have the following:
  • Can Be Symbian
  • 3G Compatible
  • Video Phone
  • Memory Card Compatibilty (for music and photos)
  • Long Battery Life for Music
  • Up to £125

Do Nokia do 3G phones which aren't Symbian?

I have already decided to get the N73 for myself, so thats already sorted :)

If your looking for 3G Nokia phones that aren't Symbian then it would have to be something like a 6280 or whatever the equivilant is of them these days, they are dead simple and cover all the features your looking for :)

I've had several phones that have Symbian on and have to they are really easy to use :)

Trust me... a new remote control would confuse my Mum and Dad... definitly not Symbian :p

Is the 6280 non-symbian?

yeah 6280is non Symbian, but there's anewer version out of it too.

Have a look at the Nokia 6288,I think thats it's replacment.

thats the only 3G non Symbian Nokia I know of, but am happy for someone to correct me :)

The 6233 - although it's a 3g compatible phone, it cannot do video calls (it lacks a front facing camera) I just got one on 3 and it's certainly one of the better nokias.

Was tempted by a 6300 but it was lost my oafish large hands.

I think the 6233 would be perfect for your dad as it has a large and comfortable keypad. Whilst the numerical keys on the 6300 are large, the other keys are a bit smaller.

For your mum I'd suggest the 6280 which does have a front camera for video calling. It also has decent battery life and is only £100 from 02 https://shop.o2.co.uk/phone/Nokia/6280

And for your sister, the 6300. It has a standard headphone jack (albeit 2.5mm, but you can get a converter to 3.5mm) and a standard USB connection to get music onto the phone quickly. The MP3 player software is the same one as found on Nokia's ExpressMusic phones, and is pretty good. The phone supports AD2P bluetooth profile. The 6300 is small and stylish (although you sacrifice a bit of battery life for this) and is £130 from 02.

EDIT - 6300 is NOT 3G compatible.

Cheers for your amazing post mrochester :)

Unfortunately, neither my Mum or Sister can have a non 3G phone - only my Dad can have this (Sister and Mum are on 3, whereas Dad is on O2).

The main problem my Dad has is pressing buttons in the car, when the phone is in the cradle, as well as seeing the screen (without his glasses) when he is carrying the phone around... which is why I thought Nokia 6300.

My Mum ideally wants a small light Nokia 3G Video Phone - don't even know if they exist

The 6233 is a 3G phone, but has no forward facing camera so you can't do video calls. The 6280 has a larger screen than both the 6300 and 6233, so it that respect, it might be a better option for your dad. I would say all 3 would easily get by with a 6280. It has expandable memory, 3G with front camera, large screen and large keys. Seems to fit the requirements of your entire family.
