Looks like my Ripjaws are on the way out, so I've ordered 4gb XMS3 2000 C9 to replace them (only thing I could find that wasn't OCZ that'd fit under my Megahalems).

From past experience, my 860 will comfortably hit 3.65 - 3.8ghz (166x22 or 173x22). This will mean running the memory at 1992 (166x12) or 1730 (173x10). I'm guessing I could probably tighten the timings to C8 @1730 (poss C7).

So, any idea which will be better (real world) - 3.65/1992 or 3.8/1730? I use this rig for a pretty wide range (Photoshop, gaming, encoding, htpc).

Sorry I dont know about your i7 but for interest look here.

It looks at OCing an E2140. The gaming performance drops off as the OC increases above 3 GHz because they had to use smaller memory multipliers. It looks as if this effect did not happen with photoshop performance. Not sure if this would be the same for the i7. Best bet will be to try both out and run some benchmarks.
