Hi, as in the title really, need to buy 2 for a raid 0 set up but I like things to be quiet.
At the moment I am using IBM (Hitachi) and Maxtor in various comps. The Maxtors are more noisy and seem slower than the IBMs.

1. Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

2. Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II

3. Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II

The Hitachi are the most expensive but I am looking for reliable, fast and quiet drives.
All thoughts appreciated

Thank you for your reply jbloggs,
I think that quiet and high performance is what I am really looking for.
So the best out of the 3 would be the WD drive?

They must be good as the IBM drives I have been using are fairly quiet and much quicker than the 3 year old Maxtors in another machine.

The computer that the new drives are going in at the moment is run using a socket A mobile XP cpu and an Abit NF7-S motherboard. Will there be a problem using any of these new SATA II drives with this set up at the moment?

Cheers, PeterT
