Man of Honour
Olive oil for most of our cooking.
Sometimes sunflower oil or butter.

Olive Oil - okay for cooking at low temperatures
Extra virgin olive oil - salad oil (not a cooking oil, very bad for cooking with, possibly extremely bad for your health)
Virgin olive oil - same as above
personally i just use ground nut oil for everything - its the best of everything and cheap.
Is it really the case that the extra virgin olive oil is the bad one to cook with? I would have thought it was the regular olive oil that is bad, as it has more sediment thus a lower burning temperature.
No. Peanut oil is different. Groundnut is neutral tasting and peanut has a peanut taste.

Recently been buying Borderfields rapeseed oil and using it for everything...
I think it has a nice taste and it's worked for everything we've cooked so far.
I read that you shouldn't cook with rapeseed oil and that it should only be used in salads/dressing.
Then what you were reading was talking pap
Rapeseed is one of the true good for everything oils. Great for shallow frying (pretty sure you can even deep fry with it), and great for baking veg etc.
