Hey, im buying my rig on wednesday/thursday, and i have narrowed it down to 2 processors, and funnily enough 1 is AMD and one is Intel.

First Option :

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz 1MB L2 Chche Socket AM3 Retail Box Processor

Second Option:

Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.6Ghz 2MB Chache

--------------------------------------------

I need to know which will best for overclocking, which is more powerful, and i was planning on shoving the AM3 processor in a compatible AM2+ Motherboard.

Thanks in Advanced, Dan

or the

AMD Athlon X2 7850 2.8GHz Black Edition Socket AM2+ 3MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor

That seems really good for the money, and the Athlon II only has 1MB Cache, will that be rubbish for gaming?

+for the Phenom II X2 550 suggestion

It is significantly faster than both of those processors for only a bit more. Also, you can unlock the 2 disabled cores. If they were functional before being disabled - you can get one or two extra cores for free :D

Also - AMD motherboads are cheaper than p43 or p45 boards. This one can happily accommodate the X2 550 and has been proven to unlock the extra cores.
