2 lots of specs, it's all old but which would be better for general usage and light gaming please. Spec 1 is already in use in that role, spec 2 will be built from bits I have, but, theres not much point if it isn't any better overall than spec 1, if you see what I mean...:)

Spec 1

Abit NF7s
XP2500M @ 2.6
1 gig XMS dual channel
9800pro

Spec 2

AV8-E deluxe
Athlon 64 3200+
1 gig XMS dual channel (ripped from above rig.)
ATI3650HD

Cheers

Spec 1 has a good board and the 2500 mobile chip is already running @ 400MHz faster than the stock speed of the 3200XP chips did but the 64 bit chip will be quicker anyway.

The 9800 pro will probably be about the same performance as the newer ati card but won't have support for HD and newer DX games.

Not a great deal in it mate TBH.

I'd probably rape both machines for parts to build the best rig or flog the lot to build a newer rig from scratch. It might be worth recasing them both and selling them both separately as individual working machines.

My choice would be rig 2.

3650 is faster than a 9800 pro and I'd pick a 939 64 3200+ over an Athlon XP (of any speed). You also have a bit of upgrade potential with a PCI-E mobo and 939 socket that you don't with a socket-a board.

I would flog those stuffs and build a new rig. Now the price of hardware seem drop abit so you get better performence and better deal with new rig.

The a64 should be good for 2.4-2.5Ghz on the stock heatsink with only a tiny voltage bump if any required.

Then you have a reasonable system for gaming
