Ok getting either these two--
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...0 2.60GHz Black Edition (Socket AM2) - Retail
And
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...0FX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

OR

These two--
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
And
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Ok so those are my choices, ive had them both in builds i did for other people and liked both equally and didnt really see any performance difference.
Bottom line is, which is technically better and thats the one ill order right away.

Neither is better overall. They'll do better than each other in different benchmarks.

I don't believe the Q has an unlocked multiplier though.

I can't tell you how good the Intel board is, but I can say the AMD one is generally regarded as the best AM2+ platform at the moment.

Finally AMD's new CPUs for the AM3 socket will be backwards compatible so that might swing it. I've heard it said that socket 775 for Intel is dead (but I don't know if that's true).

I don't think you can go wrong, personally I'd swing for the Phenom.

I'm sure you're aware that the Phenom IIs come out (looks like 8th January), and they appear to pack "Phenom"enal bang for buck if you wanted to spend more. They might also create a bit of a ripple in the Intel Quad pricing ranks.

But meh, there's always something a month or two away :)
