Hi Guys

Im in a dilema here....

I have just purchased a Phenom II 555, now this processor unlocks to a X4, but not on my motherboard...Asus M4A78E. It unlocks but resets a good few times before loading Windows 7, but once in its stable.(bios issue?) tested on a Gigabyte board and it works flawless as X4. Currently on X2 3.9

Or

I have a Athlon 620 X4 this I can get on 3.38 each core, this is fast enough for me..

I need to sell one, which one?

I dont do as much gaming as I used to, but I still do every now and again......I just generally download and surf these days..

Check whether the voltages are set the same as the Gigabyte board.

It sounds like you're getting a similar issue to my Athlon X2 5000+ -> Phenom FX 5000 unlock. Bumping up voltages for vCore and CPU-NB plus dropping HT solved it for me.

Edit: Oh yeah - disable Cool and Quiet and C1E.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried vcore up to 1.49v, and cpu-nb to 1.4v i didnt want to push this as I dont know how far it can go. I have also dropped the HT to the lowest possible and its still no go.

I have also upped the south/north bride voltage, Im sure its a bios problem.

Well after a long and hard decision, I have decided the 555 is going to go......
