Hi guys.
My HTC Desire might be on it's last legs now. So thinking about a new phone.

Which OS would you recommend and why?
My desire was Android, was pretty poor with supporting the phone, so was stuck with 2.2 for years.

I'm not sure if to go towards the flagship end or just a simple upgrade.

I like iOS for its fluidity, Android for its adaptability, and Windows Phone for its simplicity.

Is this helpful? :p

The previous versions of HTC Sense (HTC's version of Android) was pretty slow and sluggish, but from Sense 5.0 and onwards, it's been pretty minimal and fast, a massive improvement to what it was before.

What are you looking for in a phone?

I'm not too sure, been out of the phone scene for a while.
I feel like most of them all do nearly the same thing, other than a few features here, different camera and screen there.

iOS for me, the apps are in a different league and I've no issues with the rest of it. iTunes/podcasts integration and all that stuff is great too.

Wp8.1, but I wish it had the ios app store. It's got most of the big stuff these days, but the speciality stuff is missing. Like MissionClock, emailed him, but he's a one man band and has no intentions to expand to other OS anytime soon :(
Also no OS map app, there are several which use hike&bike though, which are free and they're pretty good, but nothing has as much detail as os maps.

I have GeoGPS, OS is only available online, which is pretty useless for where you are going to use such apps.

You can view OS offline using the cache function, however I'm not sure I'd want to rely on it if I was setting off into the middle of nowhere.

My HTC One has slowed down since I updated it a month or so ago.

There are lots of positives with all of them but I'd go with WP as my favourite.

iOS is simple and the 7 update made it look good but the closed nature really annoys me, importing files/music/photos is just too complicated for something that should be simple.

Android is customisable if you're into that but it still has the age old problem of being slower and more "buggy" than the other options. It's getting better but unfortunately still not there. The only major positive is it can do some more obscure things the others can't.

WP was (when I was using 7 and 7.5) fluid, quick and simple to use. Its since been updated several times and almost all the issues it had have been solved in the newer releases.

All IMO and IME... Personally I'm getting a stronger and stronger urge to swap my One (M7) for the 930, solely because of Android...

The way I see it is, if you just want it to work, then iOS is for you.

If you like tweaking and customising and a direct approach to want you want need then Android is for you.

Windows Phone, well, it aint like it's big brother OS.

Really? My HTC One M7 with Sense 6.0 is still blazing fast and stable, not noticed any slowdowns or software problems on it at all...

For me it definitely doesnt just work. I have used both OS and Android is leagues ahead. I have an iPhone 4S for work and things always seem long winded and stop working. It forces me to use iTunes so it just fails.

I've recently picked up a Nexus 7 and am quite liking the OS, my only slight gripe is that some things seem a bit odd to use and not quite as intuitive as my WP8 920.

I will however upgrade to a Nexus 5 2014 away from WP as I'd like more connectivity between tab and phone (pictures, apps etc).

Oh yeah, my other slight annoyance is that on WP things like texting someone and emails seem a bit more integrated into the OS, I can't quite put my finger on it but it's no big deal and probably something to get used to.

I've played a lot with iPads and the android software is just better, iOS seems very much just a portal for apps.

I do wonder if it's my device but it's starting to get rather annoying. It takes about a minute to get past the white HTC loading screen when starting up as well, it used to take about 5-10 seconds.

Other annoyances include updated apps reorganizing themselves in the grid, especially Apple I purposely put in a folder marked junk (most Google and HTC extras I can't uninstall) and the several seconds it regularly takes to respond to taps when closing and opening apps/going from home screen to app drawer and vise versa. App stability seems fairly poor as well compared to WP and iOS. I also find decent games lacking on Android over iOS and even WP.

Edit: oh, and it constantly unlinks all my contacts!
