i wish to go x64 as i am running vista home basic 32bit , running 4gb of ram and crossfired 5770's . so i can make use of all my ram etc ? , is it worth it ?
i have win xp pro x64 also lol

You don't need to buy Vista Home Basic again to switch to 64bit Vista, you just need the x64 installation media (your license is equally valid for both). So if you're happy with Vista Home Basic you don't need to spend any money, apart perhaps from what Microsoft charge for replacement media. Otherwise if you feel like splashing the cash get the Windows 7 upgrade.

Can't you use your current 32-bit product key with a 64-bit installation disk of Vista Basic?
Yes he can.

its the oem version and only has 32bit version on the disk :(

Not to worry, borrow a 64bit version then use your key to activate.

I have both Vista Ultimate on my laptop and Win 7 Ultimate on desktop. :D

But personally go for WIN 7 ultimate.

I have had nothing but problems with Vista, and hardly any with Win 7 and i have been using it since the first beta version was released;)

BigG, I totally agree with you even though I never used the full version of 7 but I heard that 7 has built in programs for most drivers you will ever need so 1 person said windows 7 is so good I didn't even need to install any drivers so how about that what's your experience it would be nice to know to have a better understanding of what I'm about to buy! Lol
THANKS MAN

chotic_UK, Hi your probably better off selling your copy of vista and using that money to go towards windows 7. All the windows UI's are all very simalur so it won't take long to pick up plus what I said in the above post is true for most!

The only driver Win 7 has not picked up for me so far is one of my printers, an old samsung laser.

Windows 7 :)

Found all my hardware while installing (probably because its 100 years old in computer years)

I have always had better performance with Windows 7 too.
