Which part of London to move to?

Uxbridge and the surround villages, Denham and Harefield are only 20 minutes away from Heathrow and at the edge of zone 6, considered there?

Edit:

Heh, just realised you've found a place. Good bet.

The A316 is usually pretty free flowing, even during busy times so I guess its the cut across Hounslow/Feltham that takes the time. I'd have thought going up Hospital Bridge Road and then down the A315 to the A312 might not be a bad option if you've tried that so far?

Whereabouts are you in Twickers anyway? I'm just on London Road between the junction for the station and the A316, we should get together a few local members for a beer sometime.

Not far off from my chosen route

- I go west on warren/nelson road (where it queues up waiting to cross the 314)
- Left on to 315 (Staines Road)
- Right on to the 312 (Faggs Road) (snigger)

(I would stay on this road, but the queue to the "wagners" roundabout to turn left on to bath road is a long one)

- Hatton Road
- Then across a freaky "magic" roundabout  to Eastern perimeter road, Northern perimeter road.

- Right into Bolton's Lane

The other routes I've tried especially Wellington Road North/and past Houndslow West station is a nightmare
might find a few more tweaks overtime

I'm just down the road from "The Albany" pub

Just to say thanks again for all the advice guys

I now have a great flat in Twickenham, and have managed to survive the 1st week at new job, after trying 3 slightly different routes, seems I can get to bath road (near HR) in about 35-40 mins which is fine

loving it so far :-D

welcome to the area. according to my son there are decent clubs in Kingston and the whole place is full of good pubs, particularly close to the river. Dozens of restaurants too.

If youre feeling masochistic, Brentford FC could do with some support:rolleyes:

I live in Hounslow.

Looking at your requirements i'd have to say live on the picadilly line. Hounslow, Osterley, etc. This will get you into central london in 40 mins and to Heathrow in 15 mins.

You'll use the A4 (Great West Road) to get to Heathrow. Nightmare drive in the mornings sometimes.

Hounslow is a bit of a dive but it has it's own high street. To be honest even though I live here I don't go out here to pubs - I go to Kingston, Twickenham, etc.

Osterley is nice, but lacks pubs and nightlife really.

If I were you i'd go the other way and live in Windsor. Lovely place, good nightlife, lots of pubs, and using the train you could probably get into London quicker than the tube!

Ahhh I also see you have found a place.

Twickenham is nice, high street is a bit small but there are a few good pubs. Avoid the George.

I'm looking for a place to live right now, although I kinda have something sorted for mid December... but it's one of those dingy basement flats.

It's in Baron's court thoguh, so 15 minutes from leicester square, pretty good.

Ditch the car for London, bloody nightmare driving anywhere:p

Staines is nice enough, far enough away from the riff-raff, places like hounslow are great if all you want to do is sleep in the flat and your 'living' is done elsewhere.

That said I have spent many a time in the rougher parts of London, without any trouble, and i found the majority of people sound as a pound, yes it looks a mess, but doesnt most of any big city.

Its all down to what you can afford, theres no point spending wads of cash on flat if you cant go out etc, London is all about the nightlife.

I can go up to £800pcm in rent, and have a car.

My God! thats double what I pay for my little place in the country!!!

Which part of London to move to?

None!

I'd live as far outside as I could stand for a daily commute.

Sorry Londoners ,but, I hate the place (and go there often)
