Which PC would you buy?

I am new to PC gaming and I’m buying one purely for the upcoming Valve Index. I’m currently looking at these two PC’s, both gaming beasts. But which one would you buy?

Your thoughts and reasoning appreciated?

Ah, links don’t work being a competitor website. I’m looking at the Corsair One i160 and the 3XS Nanu fluid RTX Ti priced £3700.

Yep, no linking/advertising competitors.

And you better wait for month for release of Zen2 Ryzens before blowing big amount of money into new PC.
For old Swiss cheese leaky security architecture Intels are overpriced.
Who knows how many new performance nibbling security patches those need before this year is over...

Anyway for luxury high price both have very bad expandability/upgrading options.
And PSUs of both are skimped.
That budget PC should simply have top level PSU, not some standard PSU, or possibly even worse.
Because PSU is the only other part than case which has change for keeping its value for decade.
And neither those cases seem good that good for usefulness for upgrading and keeping PC up to date.

Also for that luxury price level there should be more than 1TB, or really lousy 480GB, of SSD storage, especially considering likely bad expandanability.

Hi Mike, that’s a pretty reasonable way to go. But having spent £920 on the headset already, I don’t want to cut corners running it on a below standard GPU. I’m looking for the best experience possible, not spending maybe £1500 on a PC just to decide I needed something better, then losing money selling that, false economy. I’ve already played Moss and RE7 on PSVR, and I’m totally hyped about being in the game. But for me, PSVR was a pixelated blurry mess. I simply couldn’t feel immersed due to the lousy IQ. I believe the Valve Index will annihilate the PSVR on every level. It’s PSVR 2 that will not be released until 2021. Hence why I’m happy to spend big money, I don’t wish to wait another two years for the best the VR has to offer.

For saving comparison using same/better components as Corsair:

I would get OcUK do a custom small form factor build for you around the case of your choice - longer guarantee and faster system.

You would need to add a case of your choice but would still save ~£600. Below has same spec but better quality core components, MB z390, faster memory (and Corsair), better PSU etc..

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,611.02 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Possible case - but with custom loop - to give you an idea of size:

Hi EsaT, you know your onions. Almost every review out there regarding the Corsair One i160 are extremely positive. Are you perhaps suggesting I build a PC myself? Because that’s something I’m not really interested in, just don’t have the time. Wouldn’t even know where to start really. What pre-build would you recommend in the £3500 price tag?

Hi Plec, thanks for the reply. Really interesting. The same power as the Corsair One, but about £800 cheaper. Seems a no brainer!
That was just a quick mock up - but if you made a list of parts (or we would) and you pick an ITX case of your preference then you could pay OcUK a small fee to build the components and get a 3 year return to base warranty.

But the parts i listed are same or better quality/more up to date than that of the Corsair, too (e.g. PSU, a z390 as opposed to a z370, faster memory and better GPU)

I wouldn't buy any of them, I wouldn't buy pre assembled PC in general.

Pretty damn cool PC though, the Corsair One. For something that’ll be sitting in your lounge, I can’t see anything better.

Which ITX case would you recommend? Again, the Corsair One is super cool, anything out there that can rival it?

Personally, i would recommend a case that would allow the system to breathe - the NEO G MINI's design allows for this. But there are others which are smaller:

Style is very subjective - size you may prefer thought on following?

@tamzzy - a thread you will appreciate (ignore contents).

Thanks Plec, and the other guys. Some real food for thought here. I’ll contact OC with a case of my choice and see what they can weigh in with versus some of the more desirable pre-builds.

It's cool but is it cool. 9900K throttles in Corsair One. Or they lower all cores to 4.2GHz, can't remember which of the two.

You could ask for extra Addressable RBG LEDs to be placed in a case like the one below, near the ventilation cut-outs (sides, bottom) on the front panel. And you'd kinda get a Corsair One effect, while being able to see other nice stuff inside the case, fancy watercooling if you like.

Total: £78.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

No worries.

Post in the Pre Sales Forum once you have a general idea of components and case that you want. Suggest you research cases - pick a couple of your favourites and come back and ask for a more refined spec list.

You may also want to look into ZEN 2 if not required straight away...

More of a levelling than a leap forward. AMD should now be competing more closely with Intel on outright performance and hopefully beating them on value.
