Which pci plug for gpu?

Ok so just run the one lead from the psu, this lead splits into two, as explained,

On a side note, what's the better option running the extra fans off a molex or direct from the mb, these are only 3 pin fans so won't be getting a signal for speed?
 
Right just switched it on, No signal ??
Fans are spinning on the gpu and the msi light on the side is on,

Here's what I don't before I installed the gpu,
Upgraded my main drive to a bigger ssd, installed Windows 10 on it and a few other programs,
I've just put the gpu in and plugged my hdmi cable in the gpu switched on and I'm getting no signal, as I said all the fans are spinning and the light is working on the side (white)

Any ideas, think I've got the most resent bios on my Mb.
I know there's nothing wrong with the pci slot as before swapping out my old ssd I took out my old Radeon hd gpu which worked fine.

3570k. When I installed Windows 10 I was using the hdmi socket from the mb as I had already taken out my old gpu, wanted to make sure I didn't have any conflicts with drivers!
 
I plugged the hdmi lead into the motherboard, and still no signal, mind you the card was still connected. Tried this before I posted?

Not even getting the boot screen, should have maybe added that in my first post
 
I took out my old ssd and old gpu , then I put a brand new larger ssd in, installed Windows 10 and a few other programs back on, then after doing this I put the new gpu in this is where I hit a wall

Lol I know the thread is a bit over the place think I'm confusing people where I've carried on using it for a second question..
Thought I should have started a fresh one,
I'm using a single 6 pin pci that splits into 2 leads with 6+2 On each end,

Morning mate, just this second switched it on, I've gone into bios and checked,
Bios id f12
Bios date 04/25/2012

Come straight on here so not checked if it's the latest version.
going to try and find out if it is now.
My old gpu was Radeon hd 6950. Never had any problems with it.

Got the option in bios to change the gen of the pci slot from 1 2 or 3 gen, it's on auto so should find itself?

Yes just found a usb after digging around for the last hour lol got the new bios,
Never done it before just gonna run it via the q flash, should be straight forward hopefully :)

Gigabyte version 1.0
Ive downloaded and put the bios version f23b direct to the usb,
Is that ok or should I put it in a folder on the usb?

That's what I wanted to check
 
On the q flash right now and ready to flash,
it gives me the option of clicking on 1 of the 3 files on the memory stick as follows,

AUTOEXEC.BAT
EFIFLASH.EXE
Z77D3H.23B

Which wire do I cut the red or blue lol
 
Yes cool, just watched a quick YouTube video,
I'm upto date with the latest bios now.
Gonna put the card in as we speak, hopefully it should show now.

Hopefully the BIOS update will fix it, but something I haven't seen anyone mention and I've hit it before when using HDMI - when your GPU is in place, is the HDMI port centred in the gap when you look from the rear? I've had a couple of times when the port isn't centred and so the plastic surround on the HDMI cable hits the metal strips between PCI slots, stopping it going in far enough to make a connection.

Solutions range from getting an HDMI with a thinner plastic surround on the end, filing the plastic a little or melting the plastic a little with a lighter to make it fit, but I ended up loosening the screw holding the GPU in place, apply a little pressure to the card to centre the HDMI port, then do the screw up to hold the card in that place.

Like I said, hopefully it's just a BIOS update but just in case it's not thought it best to mention this. Good luck.

Thanks, that was one of my checks as I as know the card can easy sit off center blocking the hdmi going in,
On my case it could have been a easy mistake as the card sits over two slots
 
Well somethings happened after restarting after the bios update I went start too bios to check it had updated everything looked good.
Now when I go to start it I get inaccessible boot device,
I've went back into bios to check to make sure it boots from my ssd that's running Windows but no joy?
 
As above I didn't even get a chance to put the card in?
It just turns on goes to the boot screen then powers down then back up again then off,
 
Now it's showing the old boot screen then it doesn't let me hit f12 then goes to a duel bios screen then turns off then repeats?
Can't do anything now :/
