When you've got a choice of different formats for a game (PC, PS3, Xbox), then how do you go about choosing which you buy?

For me, I'm currently looking at picking up Fallout3, but not sure if I should get the PC or Xbox version... I feel like I'd prefer the xbox version, but it's currently about a tenner more than the PC version.

If your PC is good enough, get the PC, FO3 is easier to play on the PC IMO, and as far as I know there is more download content and mods on the PC version, isn't there?

As above. Unless it's not going to run well enough on PC, I'd buy a multi-platform game like Fallout for that straight away. More content makes it the winner.

Don't have a PC that can handle gaming anymore.
As for consoles, it would depend, if there is no difference, then i'll get it on the PS3. If one has DLC then i'll likely get it on that.

I bought Saints Row 2 earlier today. Price swayed it in the PS3's direction, first multi-platform game where the PS3's got a look in for me. Always prefer the 360 versions for the extra incentive of achievements.

That would possibly have swayed me before, but now with trophies, it takes that off the plus side for the xbox imo.

PC first then X360 if the PC version is lacking otherwise most multiplatform games are inferior on PS3 (unless its the lead platform) so thats my last choice.

Fallout3 is much better on the PC and also includes LIVE achievements which will add on your X360 gamertag as you can use that for your PC games (which support LIVE). LIVE Gold level on PC is also completely free now!!

You can also get lots of Fallout 3 mods on the PC and can even create your own as well now they have released the free G.E.C.K kit so its a no brainer really:D

cheers for all the inputs and different points of view on why's and wherefores (sp?)...

I'm going to go with the PC on this one I think... my quandry is often made more difficult by the fact that the xbox is linked to a nice 42" plasma and sound setup, but I can't always get access to the TV if there's something she wants to watch ;)

Depends on the game, and things like exclusive DLC.

Otherwise almost always.

Xbox > PS3 > Wii.

Even moreso if I expect to play any multiplayer or co-op.

Stuff that was made for PC I'll get on PC.

It really depends on the game.

I ended up buying Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360. I'd choose PC for straight FPS games but VATS means that I can play Fallout 3 without problems on a control pad. Also, it sounds proper scary with a decent surround sound set-up. :)

360 mainly, and PS3 for exclusives.

I rarely, if ever, game on my PC now. Infact I haven't done PC since Crysis/Crysis Warhead.

360 gamepads work perfectly with PC's now you know. Most games support it with the exact same control scheme as the 360.

Well for me my buying decisions go like this:

PC – far too old to play anything from the last few years at a decent rate + consoles have made me lazy, so no to that platform.

360 – It’s in its box, so I’d have to unpack it, then patch it to the latest dashboard update, all the while putting up with the racket and the constant fear it’ll brick….. oh, and I’d probably have to buy Live. Maybe not my 360 then.

PS3 – purchased.

:D

Scort.

I wouldn't even think about playing Fallout 3 on anything other than the PC to be honest. For me, it's the fan made mods that make the game really worth playing.
