Which printer

How big are you talking? The creality has a far bigger print volume compared to the bambu, 350mm3 versus 256mm3 new printer from bambu is also fairly imminent so I'd be tempted to hold off for now personally.

Life size models so around 10ft. Am looking at buying a few of the same printers so can do more with. But like life size models of sonic etc. Would you wait or get the bigger bed?

Worth pointing out that bambu are not open source and recently tried to do a rug pull in the name of security. I'd think twice about trusting them to not screw you at some point in the future. It's mostly important if you plan to use third party software and/or hardware directly with the printer, if not then any future "security" updates are unlikely to matter to you.

Plenty of youtube vids on the K2 Plus, it looks like when it works, it works very well and seems to offer Bambu quality with a larger platform.. the downsides seem to be a little hassle with TPU, and you need to get a smooth bed sheet for harder materials, but it is open source, runs Klipper and the CMS is a little better designed that the Bambu AMS..

Personally I am annoyed Bambu have gone down the locking it down route and so many people are being put off, I know there have the H2D in the wings which will be no doubt a great larger format printer, but it may be very expensive and if they don't open it up, people are going to say no..

The other option is the Prusa Core One, it's Bambu X1 sized build plate, and multi-material is a bit of a faff at the moment, but many use them for print farms and reliability with Prusa have excellent support IME and they will keep refining the printer and giving upgrade paths to keep it relevant..

Has the P1S as of yet been unaffected? I don't recall my P1S receiving a firmware update in a while, can still print from other slicers etc.

My P1S has been fine, very few failures, and those that have occured have generally been my fault (not dry enough filament, too much fan, not cleaning the bed etc)

If you're wanting to print 10ft models though, I'd probably look for a bigger printer to reduce the number of prints you'll need to do!

I've got one of the Anycubic Kobra S1 Combos on order, will see if its any good when it actually arrives...

Didn't at one point Creality try something about locking down their firmware, but then backtracked due to the kick back it caused.?
I seem to read the odd comment at times to suggest that.
BL, locked down or not, so seem to make very decent printers that offer the most consistent OOB experience.

I'm still yet to decide on my first and, apart from what BL make, I am not overly impressed with the need to have the 3d printer God's on your side when buying one. The K2, from noting some YT content I have watched, can be pretty dire if those God's have not smiled on you, the customer support being questionable.

Dont get me wrong, they make very good printers, but we're getting to the point now, as we did with Ender style bed slingers, everyone is copying that idea, making it cheaper and improving on that initial design, we're at that point now with enclosed Core X/Y enclosed printers and with AMS systems...

What I actually want, is a smaller version of the Prucia XL with its 5 tool head design, make that, smaller, with a <300x300x300 bed and we're onto a winner....
