Which PSU for under £100??

Corsair HX620, enough said

Not necessarily. Corsair's cables aren't as good quality as Enermax; Seasonic etc. cables.

Put simply, the best brands are:

Enermax
PC Power & Cooling
Seasonic
Tagan

These companies actually build their own PSU's & Enermax in particular offer good RMA service and warranty. Seasonic PSU's are very quiet too. Corsair are very good for the price and they are very popular so it's up to the OP.

there's nothing wrong with corsair cables. infact they are the same as seasonics cables:o actually they are better, being all black - if cosmetics are important of course.

yes, you and I have had this discussion before havent we? corsair and built by seasonic to higher specifications. pound for pound there is not a better psu out there. the 5 year warranty reflects this.

i said this to you back in the beginning of march - recommending seasonic but not corsair is a little hypocritical. your trying to put everybody off corsair, god knows why, but you even resort to telling people the cables arent as good? take a look: here and here. ones round and braided, the other is flat and black. are you trying to tell me the seasonics are better because they are braided? get out, if anything flat cables are easier to hide behind/alongside/undneith components. do everybody a favour and stop trying to put people off corsair. honestly its like you have a vendetta against them.

Corsair have made a departure from the sleeved cabling used by almost all other PSU manufacturers in favor of a moulded plastic, ribon style cable. Not only are these slimmer than the standard sleeved cable (especially when bundled together with a cable tie), but they are also extremely flexible and look very cool. The only disadvantage of course, is that they cannot be easily sleeved in another colour to suit your customised PC.

The 'quality' is spot on. when something better comes along, ill be right there recommending that instead. what i wont do is try to put people off what are two of the best psu's we've ever seen.

I know what you mean (OP), I recently got the 620W modular version and compared to e.g. Zalman and Enermax's moduler PSUs the cables appear really cheap and flimsey.

If you can get a replacement sent out to you let us know please, I reckon I might need to get some more at some point.

I worded that wrong. I mean the connector's are, according to the above thread, not as good quality.

I did think about what you said actually, and I'm less 'anti' Corsair now, obviously I know they are an established company, etc. and seem to want to make quality products.

Also, truth be told, there aren't any bad PSU's around nowadays, except for unbranded super-cheap generic crap.

Coolermaster, Gigabyte, Hiper, Be Quiet!, Corsair, PCP & Cooling, Enermax, Seasonic, Jeantech, FSP and more all appear, from reviews, to product quality units nowadays that are very efficient, well-made and don't blow up after five minutes.

All I'm saying is that, dis-regarding price, there are better unit's out there than Corsair, maybe this is the wrong thread to write this in, but not everyone is so concerned about value for money.

The OP is obviously concerned about 'value for money' if he wants it under £100. Some people build 2k+ systems and still use a £70 PSU. ;)

Well when I said "under a £100", I really meant "if there's a really good one for a bit more, then I'll get it" :)

I do think that the HX 620 is good, and I even recommended it to my bro in law last year, and he's more than happy with it. It's just that I want it to last 2-3 years, so I don't want it to just power my system now, but also my system in two years. This means probably 2 cpu upgrades, and 1-2 GPU upgrades, plus possibly more hdds etc.

This is why I'm thinking of maybe the 720W Infiniti would be worth it, and that's why I was thinking that 4x pci-e cables would be a good idea. I think that the infiniti has 3 pci-e, but you can convert two of the component sockets to another pci-e 6+2 cable. Plus the fact that every review I've read of the infiniti has been a good one.

Anyway, thanks for all the responses :)
