Hey. Well i was going to go for the corsair as everyone seems to have. But i just checked the spec. There is no 8xpin?? i worry that with bigger and better graphics cards coming out that i may soon need to upgrade if i buy this powersupply. I already intend on getting a G98 (hopful).

So are there any other quality power supplies with enough pins to go round for everything i need and which arnt costing a bomb.

Corsair 620W:

1 x 4pin ATX 12V
8 x 4pin Molex
2 x 6pin PCI-E Power
1 x 6pin Workstation
2 x FDD Power
4 x SATA Power

600W Silverstone Strider ST60F Quiet Quad SLi PCI-E EPS12v ATX Quad 12v v2.01 120mm Fan PSU:

1 x 4pin ATX 12V
8 x 4pin Molex
2 x 6pin PCI-E Power
1 x 6pin Workstation
1 x 8pin CPU +12V
2 x FDD Power
4 x SATA Power

Why does this have a cpu one and the other doesn't?

A guy in another post said that he didn't have an 8pin and he had to buy an adapter from crosair at 20dollars for the transport from usa.

The silverstone is pritty much the same price and it has this extra 8pin cpu connector?

Its also 75% efficientcy compared to the corsair 80%

i think it the corsair hx620 has been revised - i got one 2 weeks ago and it has 2x 6 pin connectors with an extra 2x 2 pin connectors so you can make it into 2x 8 pins

I've got a 700W GameXStream

Not too expensive and has more than enough connectors. If you don't need 700W or its too expensive go for the 600W. If you have the cash to spare, go for the corsair ones. I would've except i was on a tight budget at the time i was buying my graphics card :p

Okay, Corsair has the 8-pin motherboard connecter *and* two 8-pin PCI-E power connectors. The end 2 pins can be detached to make them 6-pin PCI-E connectors.

So if you had crossfire 2900XTs you'd use 1 8-pin in each and the bundled converter from 2 molex -> 6-pin PCI-E from the 2900XTs for the other power slot on each.

If you want an 8-pin pci-express connector without any adapters then you're looking at getting a:

Seasonic S12II 500w (fixed cables, 1 8-pin, 1 6-pin, and it has to be the S12II model not the earlier S12)

Enermax Infiniti 650w (modular cables, 1 8-pin, 2 6-pin)

Silverstone Olympia 650w (fixed cables, 1 8-pin, 2 6-pin)

Silverstone Decathlon 650w. (modular cables, 1 8-pin, 2 6-pin)

Of course, there are other models but I picked out ones that are closest to the Corsair HXs in spec.

I want modular cables dont i?

Also. You say that it is possible to adapt the corsair into an 8pin? is this with included parts? As i said earlyer. The guy that made me relise this had to pay 20 dollars to get the adapter. SO i gued they dont supply it, which is stupid really.

should look like this (corsair hx620)

thats the way it was when purchased

Wrong wrong wrong, read the posts above your own. Corsair comes with 8 pin PCI-E connectors now.

Thanks guys. Still confused then as to why another guy on the forum needs the adapter. But ill get the 620w one. I intend on buying a G98 if possible. I hope ill have the right adapters and power. Although i wont be buying till november, i doubt there will be many/any new psu's out so i thought id get it out now.

Is the extra 2 pins on the 8pin PCIe just another 12 volt and neutral added on to a 6 pin PCIe? Can you buy an adapter from a lagacy to the missing 2 pins if you've got a HD2900XT and only 6 pin PCIe connectors?
