What's the best PSU to go for at the moment?

Looking for 750W

I see there's an extensive range of Corsair models available. I 'm assuming the differences are: :

TX650.. Bog standard 80+ PSU?

TX750M - Same as above but modular?

HX750 same as above but with passive cooling when less power being drawn?

Rm series???

I quite like the idea of fan-less operation during low power but I'd like braided Modular cables.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks

Antec!!!!!!!

The HX750 from Corsair I wasn't aware had the hybrid fan control which the AX range has? which stops the fan spinning when not much is happening then slowly ramps up the speed as it is needed.

I recently bought an RM 650 it is silent in normal operation and working very well. There is an RM750 but OCUK don't seem to list it.

Andi.

The TX series are end of life now and have been replaced by the RM series which have been getting very good reviews. They can deliver all of their stated output on the 12v rails and from this review seem very quiet. The 750w and 850w units are built by Chicony Power Technology while all the others are CWT. As the RM750 is the same price as the TX750 and more efficient it would make sense to go with the newer model. No braided cables though.

Just been reading that the Antec doesn't have fan-less/low fan operation at low power.

edit ohhhh

AX and HX are around the same price.

Techpoweup rate the AX at 91%

No idea.. Is it?

The AX760 is a great unit with proper Hybrid Fan mode. I'm not sure what the standard cables are like, and whether they're braided or not. Though there are proper coloured cable kits available for the AX series for some themeing if you like that sort of thing, although they are a tad on the expensive side.

The HX series are CWT not Seasonic, I'm not sure whether the HX+ are the same?

I think the Antec one will run all the time it'll just reduce the voltage supplied to the fan in relation to the heat of the unit. So at low loads it'll be spinning but probably inaudible.

Aren't EVGA mostly FSP or Super Flower?

You didn't mean XFX did you?

And lol at Huddy repeating himself :D Triple post ftw.

Thanks Oceaness.

Yep, i saw those cables.. £60+ The white would like great in my case.. not sure i can justify that though.. I need a new winter coat :D

Haha, yeah I love the cable kits, proper PSU to component cables instead of extensions, but yeah £60 goes along way on other more useful things.
