Which readings are correct?

Hi all

Currently have an ASRock Dualsata2 motherboard, [email protected] stock cooling and stock volts.

Now my bios says my CPU is around 47c~ after load, and my NB is 35c~

But MBM5 says they are the other way around.

I'm guessing the motherboard is more accurate, but 50c seems a bit high for the CPU at stock volts inside a Super Lanboy.

Any ideas?

edit: Ambient temp is 29c :(

does seem a little high on air should be about 40 under load with good cooling. but your mobo could be the wrong one very unlikely but never know cos it sounds more correct the way MBM shows it.

edit its very hot today tho my temps have gone up a few degrees today

They seem ok to me, 47 degrees overclocked on the stock cooler isnt too bad, especially in this hot weather.

EDIT: With that ambient temp of 29 the cpu sounds like the one at 47 degrees.

Under 40 with air is unreachable at bearable noise levels IMO, I'd suspect the motherboard to be correct, MBM may not even have the profile for the board.

It could be but then the cpu reading would be too low, I would trust the BIOS more than the motherboard as well. Do you have the latest bios?

Well, i've got the second from latest, because the latest one wouldnt allow for certain overclocking settings according to some people

well in that case bios is right and its probably just due to the really hot weather and the good clock you have on the chip, what cooler do you have a stock one?

my case is currently at 31 just cos my room is so stuffy

Yep running at stock volts and stock air cooler. I'll be plonking a big typoon in there soon, so that'll tower over the NB aswell and should hopefully cool the hole lot down :)

yeh that should sort it :). out of interested can you get your chip to 2.8? i have the 3700 and its damn hard gettin 2.8 stable on mine.

stock cooler probably your reason for high temps just finding it hard to cope with the added room heat

Well it boots into windows at 2.8, but after about 10mins of load it freezes. This is on stock volts by the way, so if i were to get it to 1.5 i reckon 2.8 will be stable :)

If you can get 2.7 on stock then I would be very suprised if you couldn't get another 100MHz with a voltage increase!

Righty, i just did a little observation.

F@H will stress my CPU 100%. So i paused it and watched both temps come down to 35c~, idle.

I resumed F@H and MBM5 said that my NB was increasing rapidly, it's got to about 45c in less than a minute. And apparently the CPU is sitting happily at 35c despite being under 100% load.

Looks like MBM5 is wrong :(

Righty, you can guess the next question i'm gonna ask is whether 47c~ is ok for my CPU? :p

Good general rule for most CPU's is as long as load temps are below 55C and you will have no problems, below 50C you're laughing :)
