Which Router/Repeater?

Hi all,

Got a Thomson Speedtouch 580i which was, at the time, apparently amazing.

Well it isn't, it's crap, and it frequently randomly drops Wifi connection and the range is rubbish.

It does, however, rock at DSL for people with rubbish lines.

I'd like to improve my Wifi connectivity by supplementing the Thomson with another router to extend my wireless network. All it needs to do is be a really good wireless router. No need for anything else, provided it can repeat my network..
 
You don't want a router (since you won't be doing any routing), you want a wireless access point. You could use a router but you would need to disable all of the features which make it such.

The Linksys budget range usually does a reasonable job for the money. I've had a WAP54G at home for years which has excellent range (all the way to the end of the road!).
 
The linksys access points would be my first choice probably, though if you're finding wireless is carp and everyone else says its wonderful it might be worth finding out if there are a lot of other wireless networks around, if there are you could trying mucking with channels etc to see if it gets better.
 
There are no wireless networks in the area - I don't live in a highly populated area and I'm pretty sure my Wireless network is the only one within 500 yards.

Also my Speedtouch keeps forgetting things like port forwarding. I'll set up a port, hard save it, and then 2-3 days later it forgets it and I have to go back in and set it all up again - despite both the PC it forwards to and the router itself having long uptimes...
 
Draytek 2800 should do you fine. Top quality router more high end than the others so hopefully should be better all round.
