Hi i am looking for a routervto use with the virgin 3 superhub on their 350mb service. Can anyone recommend one please? I was told the to link ac1900 vr900 is good but am not sure whether it is fast enough.
Thanks

thanks i bought the tp link archer vr900 but havent opened the packaging so might return it. I would prefer something from Draytek but not sure what to go for. The Asus AC86U has very good reviews but poor firmware it seems

The ac88u is good, never had any problems with it.

My boss also uses it with their Hyperoptic connection without any issues

Another 86U user here, the FW is good, even better if you run the Merlin custom ones.

ASUS firmware has a bad reputation due to its woeful security track record/the legal case in the US and resulting fine/ongoing security audits.

I am going to buy draytek 2862ac router i think it will suit vurgin hub 3 well and can handle 350mb speed. Please let me know ur thoughts before i click buy thnx

You asked almost the same question earlier and the advice given was virtually the same, it’s an overly expensive and technically average bit of kit, nothing about it justifies the price or usage based on what you’ve said. Surely as you’ve asked twice now, we should be asking why do you want this router? What’s the logic behind making the choice you seem set on despite three people now saying it’s distinctly average and you can do better for the money?

Also remember your SH3 won’t do modem only mode.

What additional features/issues are you looking to resolve over the SH3. I’ve only used Virgin in their Business guise and the Modem/router/switch/WiFi AP they provide seems pretty reasonable.

If what the previous post says about the SH3 not having a ‘modem’ or ‘bridge’ mode is correct then putting a second router behind the SH3 will possibly give you more issues than solutions. For a start, make sure you can turn off NAT on one of the devices or it will slow you down.

I’ve always thought of replacing my sky q hub with something like an ac88u (already have an eci hg612 from a while back in the cupboard) but as it will sit in the living room I’m not a fan of the antennas on them and it does a seem a bit bulky compared to the Q. Still, the improvements it will offer will probably outweigh all those issues.

But you have no information on it. I am using the Tenda and it is the perfect router.

Why do you choose the trolling path instead of constructive discussion?

I have all the information I need. "Tenda" was enough. I'm not trolling anybody, I'm lending the opinion the OP asked for.
Adversely why do you think it is perfect? Purely because you have bought it? I'm recommending a router I don't use but KNOW is tried and tested and has a significantly well known and positive track record.
