Which running machine?

I've just managed to clear my garage out and don't use it for the car so wanted to maybe get a running machine to go in there.

Anyone have any recommendations on which models and where to buy from?

I wanted something close to what you get in a gym, but not too expensive - so something in the middle I guess - don't want something that will move around while running or break after 6 months.

Could probably extend up to £200 budget wise (maybe a little more).

Thanks!

£200 would get you 4 years membership in a top class gym with the best factilities available, including running machines.

Or you could go running outside, it's free! ;)

Seriously, I've never understood the mentality of someone buying a treadmill for the home. I'd bet 99.9999% of every treadmill bought in the world, ever, just clogs up space and never gets used.

Go outside its free. Treadmills are a waste of time and money. A decent treadmill your looking at four figures.

Quoted for truth!

I was looking at treadmills when i was sorting out my garage but gave up in the end, they were getting ok around the £1k mark when buying brand new but then i had a massive brain wave, i've got a lovely country park with loads of woods/paths etc so i go running there instead.

If you really want one, i would suggest looking for Gym clearance sales or keep your eye on the free adds/local rags, a mate of mine paid £700 for a X-Trainer for his wife then sold it 7 months later through the local rag for £200 as she had never used it once!

(P.S. Chong, what sort of gym can you get membership for at £50 per year? or was is a slip and you meant £50 per month? ;))

I was thinking that, round here they are all £50 a month!

£200 would get you 4 years in a hut and a broom handle with paint pots taped to either end. :D

We do here, but even then, £20 x 48 = £960.

The council gyms here are ok, but they can get crowded really quickly, the biggest of the local gyms is quite well equipped, but since HSE and the cops closed the main local 'Mans' gym for quite a few HSE and drugs/steroids related incidents (where all the hoooooge blokes used to go) they have all spread out to use the council gyms too. Can be quite intimidating for some people nowadays.

I think CW possibly meant 4 months, not years. He's old ye know. Regardless I think a gym membership is the best option, just put your mp3 player on and ignore everyone else

You have to go easy on me guys and show some patience, as Trojan said I'm cracking on a bit now :p (suprised MTA missed a chance at a dig here actually lol!)

Yes I meant 4 months... long enough to show you just how mind numblingly boring treadmills are!!

Yep I thought it might be a typo. ;)

I guess I'm being niave and thinking that I will be more motivated to run on a treadmill in my garage than go street running.

I was certainly unmotivated to go to the gym when I was a member. :(
