Im In Me Mums Car
Ok so Santa is bringing me an ultrawide monitor for Christmas, 2560 x 1080 resolution so I'll need a new GPU to drive it when he finally drops it down the chimney (carefully I hope).

It's an LG 29UC88 with FreeSync, and Im currently running a GTX780 so you can see my predicament here.

With that in mind, which 480 would be best? It has to be quiet'ish, dont want anything that sounds like a jumbo jet at takeoff.

Also bearing in mind that it has to fit in a NZXT H440, which are pretty hot cases so I've heard??? I have no idea with this sort of stuff tbh, I just like to play games haha.

Yeah I always shop around :D ... thanks for the suggestion though, can I just ask what makes the XFX the best card?

The XFX GTRs have good components. I read the VRMs are good enough that they don't even need a heatsink on them. You can also undervolt them by quite a large amount. Unlike ones on certain nvidia cards which are setting themselves on fire atm :P

The Sapphire PowerColor Devil 13 RX480 8GB is £230 from OcUK. If you want the best one,the XFX RX480 8GB Black GTR is the one to look for,but shop around IMHO OFC.

Is it the PowerColor your talking about Cat?

If so then +1 from tommy.:)

@Spuddy, they both can be undervolted to run cooler and both run very quiet.:)

Oops typo on my part!! :p

:D

can I just ask what makes the XFX the best card?

XFX have put a lot of effort into the GTR XXX, it's the best RX480 bar none by all accounts, as stated, can be undervolted for even lower temps and even has quick release fans for swap out be it for custom rgb lighting, or if a fan/bearing fails, you don't have to return the whole card, instead just pop in a new one.

Ok thanks guys looks like XFX it is!

I was expecting people to say the Sapphire Nitro tbh, I remember a lot of buzz about that card before/when it first came out.

Is it not very good?
